Half of my family always makes sure they are presentable for any gatherings, the other half wears loungewear/pajamas- and I don't mean for Christmas morning. This weekend, we went to my SIL's house for a holiday dinner for their side of the family. I wore a silk blouse, black vest, sparkly bangles, black skinny pants tucked into suede boots. When we arrived, she was in a velour sweatsuit (which doesn't even fit her anymore), her son was in flannel PJ bottoms and a tee shirt, and her husband was in his work clothes (he's a carpenter- so work boots and sawdust covered workpants). The rest of the family dressed casually but still presentable. The other half of my family is also split- with my parents and my family dressing casually appropriate and my sister's family in pajamas/loungewear. It makes it so uncomfortable for me to be at a gathering with someone so inappropriately dressed. No matter how much you you dress down, the loungewear is going to stick out. If you invited us to your house, why couldn't you be bothered to get dressed in actual clothes?
Does anyone else deal with this?
