Does this work?...or too matchy matchy?

Please be honest...how does this outfit look? This is the second time I have worn a wide belt over a top and am not feeling overly confident.

It looks great! The skirt is very cute but needs something simple on top like you've done. Love the belt to define your waist. I think the wide belt looks fine, but you could experiment with different widths. Thumbs up.

That looks fantastic! I love the whole outfit. The belt really defines your waist and is a good accessory. Like Joy mentioned, something simple paired with the skirt is good.

Thank-you! I have a closet full of clothes-yet nothing to wear. I find myself standing in the middle of my closet, turning in circles and scratching my head when it comes time to put together outfits. I like to watch the weather for the week and try to plan and put together my outfits on the week-ends. I am armed with all the knowledge from this site, fresh from watching What Not to Wear, and a colour wheel in hand when I enter the closet, but as good intentions may be - I get frustrated with so much to think about (and to look at). Sometimes I try too hard and my outfit turns out looking that way. I am glad I found this site with so many fashion knowlegable people. I think I may try to post different outfits for your honest opinions.

just wanted to chime in that the outfit is perfect! it's definitely not too matchy matchy! i consider pulling colors from a print coordinating, not matching. so, you did superb in your color choices!

i know what you mean about a closet full of clothes yet nothing to wear! even after my huge closet cleanout this fall, i still feel overwhelmed sometimes! so, you're not alone!

can't wait to see more outfits from you!

I love the outfit, with one recommended addition: How about adding an accessory (purse or bracelet maybe) or switching out the shoes to bring in one other color. Kelly green came to my mind, or a rich yellow. It'll get rid of any matchy-matchy feeling.
You have a great sense of style!

Hi Antje, thank-you! What colour bracelet would you go with? I would never have thought of, and love the idea of kelly green shoes (do not have, but on wishlist!..along with turquiuse, orange, and a blue) I do have yellow though!

I love this outfit on you. The wide belt is great with the somewhat wild print in the skirt. The wide belt calms the print to me, gives the eye a place to rest.
I like Antje's idea of kelly green shoes too. The third color would be nice.

Purpleorchid, if you have yellow shoes then you're all set. Otherwise, for a bracelet I suggest yellow, green, royal blue or turquoise if you have. No need to add both a bracelet and shoes in a different color. Have fun!
