Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

Does this work?

A couple of weeks ago I posted this outfit in my weekly outfit post and asked whether the proportions of waist coat over long shirt worked:

We couldn't quite decide, some said it did, some said it didn't, and some said it might but it was too dark and a white shirt would be better. So I am reposting it again with a white shirt hoping to reach a conclusion ( please excuse the wrinkles on the shirt):

Btw, I am not that creative to come up with it on my own, I was inspired by these:

Thank you very much!

I am not crazy about the proportions, I think the fact that you can see the jeans through the white shirt has something to do with it.
I think it reminds me of a waiter with an apron. I am not sure if that is because I wore something like that when I waited tables. It wouldn't take much to make it work, maybe just a slightly shorter shirt. I do like the drama of the outfit. I love the vest on you!! (I cannot get use to saying waistcoat)

First of all, you have such a wonderful figure that you would still look beautiful even if you wore a potato sack. Besides, those jeans are killer and they make your legs look miles long. That said, I am still not a big fan of this look. I think I have seen you in more exciting outfits.

I think the proportions are fine - it just needs a longer cami underneath because of the show-through issue, which is also throwing me off.

Have you tried this top without the vest and with a low-slung, wide hip belt? That is what we did in the 80s with long shirts like this!

.... memories!....

I think the proportions work too, Tanya. Sort of Nepalese. Different.

How was your dance competition?

Thank you everyone! I think I might spot this from time to time, but not too often.

Angie, the comptetion went quite bad, but significantly better than the previous one which was a complete disaster

I'm definitely not a good resource for trying new looks, but I really like how the proportions of the outfit highlight your long, slim torso. The waistcoat looks like it was made for you.

I applaud you for trying something not mainstream. I think this look is completely about personal taste.

Hi Tanya, I missed your original thread, but I actually really like the look that you had first posted, with the dark shirt. I don't like it that much with the white shirt, not sure why - might be a case of "too much white" or the issue with the jeans showing through as mentioned above. I find the first look classier.

Ahhhh. Sorry to hear that the dance competition was tough, Tanya. That means that the next one will go better :-)

Tanya do you have a less transparent white shirt to overcome the see-through factor?
