Does this skirt make you think of an apron?

I saw this at Anthropologie this weekend for $20 and I can't get over the thought that it looks like an apron to me! It is very eye-catching to me but I just wonder if it will look good in real life.

It may be a cheeky nod to aprons - but I'd go with it - how about pairing it with a black turtleneck, pearls a leather jacket and tall boots? How would you style it?

I think it gives off an apron vibe, but I like it. No suggestions about how to wear it, though I like the suggestions of pearls, tall boots and a leather jacket. I'd love to see what you do with it!

Mamapicklejuice - I had no idea how I would style it until your suggestion! I love that idea! I don't have a leather jacket but I've got a lot of other jackets including a military one (which may be overkill, might need something simpler) but I love the idea of the sleek black turtleneck and tall boots.... I"m going to try to style it that way and if it works, I'll post some pics

I see what you mean agrace, but I think it could work, with a cheeky leather jacket or something. Oh I just read your other comment, absolutely, try it with a military style jacket and a turtleneck. Keep us posted?

Thanks, Inge! I will....apparently Anthro is one of the last stores to not have a super strict return policy (besides nordstroms of course) so I've got some time to play. The fit is flattering, I just have to get the apron imagery out of my head! I'll post when/ if I have success with styling it!

It is cute but I think that it needs something really sleek on top. I do not remember your body type, are you a rectangle? I think that would come into play with this skirt. Post pictures and let us all see what you come up with!!

I tried this skirt on and I really liked it. Found out my friend also tried it on and felt the same. It fit really good, but it was just not what I was shopping for that day. I didn't think about an apron once when I was wearing it. I hope you bought it for $20 and that you post pictures of the outfit you create with it.

This skirt is adorable. I love the ruffle detail down the front. It has a retro/50s feel, which is why I think it seems like an apron, but that is not the first thing I thought of when I saw it. How are you planning on wearing it?

Ana, I appreciate hearing your thoughts b/c you know I admire your fashion sense. Say, now that I think about it - this skirt would look great on YOU! Maybe you need to snag it? I really don't know....everyone is suggesting sleek and I think that is the key. I'm seeing opaque dark tights and a turtleneck with possibly a chunky heeled pump/ platform and/ or tall sleek boots. I was thinking scrunchy suede boots but it did not look so good.

I know when I was working outside of the home in a corporate environment I would have done a fitted black turtleneck, pearls and opaque tights with heels. Now i need a way to casual it up a bit for MOTG wear....any suggestions?

Is it very cold where you are now? If so, you may not be able to wear the skirt for much longer because it looks lightweight. I like the idea of the turtleneck and tights. I'm really liking the idea of either black oxfords or booties along with the tights (keep the boots sleek). To be more casual, you could throw a blue denim jacket on top, if it's not too cold yet. Alternatively, a motorcycle jacket might work if you have one.
