Does this look okay? - YouLookFab Forum

I'm going out to a bar and was trying to find something casual and warm. I thought I would trial denim with denim (which I have avoided thus far) and was thinking it might be okay if I wore the shirt with a darker denim jean.

I imitated Bella's denim-shirt-under-cowl-neck-sweater look (hopefully this is seen as flattery!) but not sure if it needs a belt or an accessory or what.

Also, with these jeans I can't wear heels (PPL) so due to the snow we are stuck with tennis shoes. Which fits with the casual vibe, but limits belting/accessories/etc...

Any suggestions? I'm not in love with this outfit and would appreciate any feedback.

Oh, I also have the sweater in black, but the tennis shoes are navy and I don't know if I can expand my fashion sense that much in one outfit (what with trial the denim + denim and all).

I think this is a sweet casual look, Carrie (and it seems cosy too, love that;-) I think I prefer this colour for the sweater over the black one you are contemplating, it looks nice with the two shades of denim. The cowl neck + the collar of the shirt already add some interest and your earrings are a fab accessory, I'm a bit of a minimalist, so this is perfect for me;-)
Were you going to carry a bag? That can add some extra pizzazz too.

Oh a bag! I didn't even think about it! I have a nice mossy green bag that might be a nice complement.

Carrie well done on trying denim on denim! I think that the color of the top is washing out your complexion a bit, I was going to suggest either a casual blazer or the cream cardigan that you wore to your super bowl party? I think with your casual footwear you need to have something a little more dressy on top so the blazer or cardi may counteract that a bit. Maybe you could also try adding a pendant or necklace or some sort as well?

Just a couple little things, and I think you've got it -- 1) pull open the collar of the shirt a little more and tuck them down a bit straighter into the neck of the sweater it will look a little more crisp, and you could add a long pendant necklace for a bit more interest. Other than that, I think it is a nice casual look.
