does this go?

can you pair black legging with brown riding boots? with a tunic cowl neck sweater? i'm questioning the brown boots. any insight from the lovely fashion guru's here is greatly needed...thank you in advance.

Sure you can! Pull it together with gold toned accessories, or a touch of brown somewhere else in the outfit.

I'm wearing a black dress, sheer black hose and brown boots today. I think leggings will work great as long as the tunic is a different color or sheen than the leggings. Although it might still work if you have enough texture.

I do it constantly, love the combo particularly if the brown is warmer and/or lighter. Very dark brown and black also work. I usually have some brown elsewhere in the outfit. I love wearing black and brown printed scarves with this combo.
