Doc Martens Pumps. Do they work? Yay or Nay?

I'm pulling together some outfits for Las Vegas and will be visiting my husband at a trade show this week. My Doc Martens arrived today in two sizes. Do they work with:

Yellow Halogen pencil skirt
Black and white striped RL shirt with black silk buttons
Belts, black (two photos: one is a leather with silver hardware and the other is a stretch belt)
B & W big pearl necklace
Plain nylons. (Different color??? Pattern?)

Your help is really appreciated, because I want to return one (or both) today, before I leave mid-week. (Sizing note: Funny, if I keep them, I'm sticking with the UK5 as the UK 6 hit my ankle bones in a funny way in the bigger size. I wear a 7-1/2 or 8. The Doc Martens, knee-high 20-eyelet boots are a UK 6 and while loose, will be okay with socks. With pumps like these in the photo, I get concerned about my toe touching the front of the shoe and they are "just there.")

I'm posting a few more photos later today or tomorrow and would appreciate your input on those, too. Thanks!!!

I think they definitely work, and I prefer the first belt. CUTE shoes. As for the fit, will you be walking the strip while you are in Vegas? My own feet tend to swell up a bit if there is a lot of walking involved, so you might want to consider that as well.

Oooh Vicki, they've already arrived!! (still waiting for mine:-) They are fantastic and you are totally rocking them!! Definitely keep the size that feels most comfortable to you.

I think I prefer the first belt, and am totally digging this outfit! Fab shirt too. Have a great time in Vegas and let's see some more looks with these oxfords soon pretty please?-)

I sized up in the shoes because I cannot risk my toe brushing the edge of the toe box. I wear a US 6.5 and have these in a UK 5 (I usually wear a UK 4).

I much prefer the second belt. I love your style, Vicki!

To my Team Fast-on-the-Draw-First-Responders, thank you for your precious input! Una, thanks for posting so quickly; I was really anxious about this. Rae, yes, walking a trade show can be tiresome, but I had the shoes on for a couple of hours, walking on carpet, and the more I wore them, the more comfortable they seemed. But, you are correct in that feet do swell in the afternoon and later in the day, so that is a consideration on sizing and comfort and you bring up a good point. Angie, I love being your "shoe twin" and I CAN'T WAIT to see your three days of wear with these little guys!!! Show and tell, please!! Inge, you've been there since the beginning, and I can't thank you enough. Celia, Rachylou, Grewitch, Airin and Mo, your positive feedback and thumbs up had me in the car and off to the post office to return one pair and KEEP the other. Thanks, everyone, for your "immediate and heartfelt" support. It's appreciated more than you know.

I would be bold and forgo the nylons. I was just in Vegas and it's lovely and warm and you won't need them . And to me bare legs are a much more youthful look.

Vicki, you'll see the first outfit on Wed - with slouchy '80s trousers. The other outfit was with my Theory suit and the third with a turquoise dress and tomato red knee length coat.

I'm so excited about this outfit and hope to copy with my Miz Mooz oxfords, same skirt and a similar shirt and belt. i hope you don't mind.
Your toe touching the end is a concern. I think I'd go with the larger size and up in inserts as needed.

Outfit 2 is AMAZING. I love 1 as well. It's just that the chambray and the graphic shoes don't harmonize in the same way, but that is a very subjective opinion.

Both of the belts work. I am glad you are keeping the shoes, they are fun and they look comfortable. I like the stockings but then again I am one of those "bare legs are for sandals only" types, I don't know why as it is a conservative attitude and I tend to have liberal opinions about fashion, age appropriateness, trends, etc. Maybe it's simply a preference. Stockings just look so nice and finished to me, KWIM?

I have to wear nylons, because my legs aren't "bare quality" and I run cold, too. Joy, the larger size was just way too big, with gaps and the height of the shoe cut into my outer heel a bit. I think this size will be fine and I'll road test it this week! Kyle, please post a photo of you in your Bass shoes; I 'd love to see them. Zappos had some Bass heeled saddle shoes on their site, too. The shirt was the same in each photo; it's just that the camera distorted the lines and color in the shirt. Angie, all three of your outfits have me waiting in anticipation to see you! Being shoe triplets with you and Inge is the best of the best and makes me want to do a little dance in these shoes.

I normally don't wear anything higher than a 2" or 2-1/2" heel, but these are 3" and actually very comfortable, so I don't know if it's due to the thickness of the sole or platform. They are also very stable due to the thicker heel and slip-resistant, which make me feel better about wearing such a high heel (for me!). Hope that helps!
