They seem to be airborne here in Melbourne, Australia but they are not flying too high yet. Who knows how popular they'll become....it may take a year or two....they may stay on the fringe. Right now, I'm liking wearing something not seen too often. In saying that, I wear all the cuts of jean....boyfriend, cigarette leg, skinny, straight, bootcut and more recently flares again.....they all appeal in their own way and I love the variety.

When I look around I see many skinny jeans, some flare/bootcut and almost no boyfriend styles on São Paulo's streets. Skinny's dominated the stores for some years now, but I've seen a lot of flare jeans/trousers on sale this days. I don't know if they are staying or not, but I'm stocking just in case

I haven't seen any in my area yet, but need to check what the college kids are wearing. High school kids don't count. They're famous for wearing unfashionable clothing. Just sayin'

Am I wrong thinking that flares can be pretty bodycon as well if they are really fitted to the knee? At least this is how I felt in mine before I lost weight. I think that the hips and thighs is the places where bodycon really matters and not so much below the knee. If anything flares can be more flattering than skinnies while being equally sexy looking.
Now if only they were as practical in wet weather...
And abc- I so hear you about skinnies in Mexico City! I was amazed by what is considered an appropriate business attire in the bank there - tights skinnies and tight shorter tops worn together all over the place. I felt that the evening out would be more appropriate for them than the bank but obviously I was the only one thinking that!

It took 3 years for the boyfriend jean to catch on here now it is everywhere. I give flares 3 or 4 years and they will be everywhere here, also. Ha, Talbot's just got on the slim leg bandwagon. Talk about late.

That is an interesting question. Here in portugal I see it everywhere on the stores, but not on the streets

I think of flattering flares as being fitted (bodycon, if you will) until the knee, and then flaring out. Otherwise, all you have is a pair of wide-legged pants. Wide-legged pants are not flares, IMO.
