Interesting post! Carter, I enjoyed reading about your experience with different colors for the seasons and how it works for you.
I guess I don't intentionally limit the colors in my wardrobe, but I do so unintentionally. I am kind of always thinking in "capsule" mode, so if I intend to bring a new color into my wardrobe (say, for a single new item), I want to make sure that it already goes with my other wardrobe pieces. But I really don't like a LOT of bright, unique colors in my wardrobe. To me, it's brain overload and chaos.
I do find that my attractions for different colors change as the seasons change. For fall, I love dark colors in general. If I am going to add a brighter color for fall, it would probably be a rust or an ochre; jewel tones would be next. In deep winter, I like bright red and bright lime. In early spring, I like pastels, especially mint green and lavender. For summer, I enjoy bright red again. But even these colors are very limited in my closet. I might have only two or three items in these nonneutral colors per season.
My neutrals of choice change during the year. In warm months, white is queen, with occasional black, and in cool months, I love dark gray, black, and cream (not white). I want to try to add more dark brown in for f/w this year. Tried to do that last year, but there wasn't enough in the stores.
Oh, I forgot leopard print! I make an exception for leopard print. I have a couple of pairs of leopard print booties, and a leopard top, and am always trying to find more leopard. Can't have too much leopard print, whatever the season!
