Do you keep duplicates of your make up and hair brush in different places?

No I should but I don't. I have a small make up purse that I carry wth me always containing mineral powder, my eye shadow brush loaded with eyeshadow for touch up, lip pencil, lip brush and lipstick.

Some 'ends' and samples go in my travel kit for weekend or business trips, but only lip pie in my handbag. My hairstyle doesn't require brushing except when styling.

I'm like Deborah. I use my makeup and then I carry a small makeup pouch in my purse ---- ALWAYS.

It contains - mineral powder, a tiny kabuki brush, eye liner pencil, the lipstick that I've used that day, tinted lip balm (sometimes freezing AC dries my lips), and a teeny tiny perfume. I also have a very small tube of hand cream in there.

This pouch stays packed that way always and I only change the lipstick everytime. Rest of the things are duplicates.....I have the same mineral powder and eye liner in my big makeup bag. This pouch goes into my handbag (it actually stays in my bag organizer so I don't forget it!) and so does a duplicate hair brush.

Anne, yes. I am an annoyingly organised person. Are you ready for this?? When I get home at the end of the day, I empty my handbag. Purse etc get's placed in a tray on the shelf in my wardrobe. Make up pouch get's placed beside my make up tray on another shelf:) In the morning, I put my make up on and then pack the items I need, as above, for potential touch ups during the day, into my make up pouch. I then pack my handbag. So I don't have duplicates.

I am a duplicate girl. I have a small make up bag just for touch ups which stays permanently in my gym bag. I also keep spare perfume and a few make up items at work. I seem to have spare lipsticks everywhere because I am always misplacing them.
I aspire to Deborah's system!

Deborah's system is very disciplined! If you are as organized as her, this is a great method because you don't have to waste your money on duplicates.

My method is more for convenience but works only because I use a bag organizer religiously. I change my bag with every single outfit. So everything I like to carry stays inside a bag organizer, which I keep in my closet. Based on what bag I'm going to use that day, I just put the bag organizer in. It contains the makeup pouch (the printed white & blue pouch), a comb and few other essentials I always carry (glasses, sunnies, hand sanitizer and a pack of wet wipes).

Once I'm back home, I remove the bag organizer and put it on its shelf inside the closet, put the original bag stuffing back in to the handbag to maintain shape, then put my handbag into its cloth bag casing and store it back into my bag closet. It sounds elaborate but it actually takes me less than 2 minutes.

Maneera, love your system. I have thought about using a bag organizer but never found quite the right one. I must revisit this idea.

Deborah, before I got this bag organizer, I always ended up wasting 15 minutes packing and then unpacking my bag. It was cumbersome and many times I missed out on something I needed. For example - ibuprofen! I get bad migraines and hate it when I get a pounding headache and don't have medication on hand. The bag organizer has solved many problems for me. Its an idea worth reconsidering, since you are extremely organized. There is nothing special in this organizer....I picked it up real cheap on Amazon.

I have decanted my concealer and poured pan cream colors into a yaby palette that lives in my travel bag. And of course the toiletry bag always has small containers filled-and-ready-to-go of all my skincare. And there are small makeup brushes in there as well. I have a spare eyeliner pencil also that doubles as a brow pencil in case I forget to pack my usual.

My handbag always has lip balm and hand lotion. I swap out the lipstick daily.

I always have lipcolor and perfume in my little makeup pouch in my bag as these are really the only things that I touch up during the day. And I have a little folding hairbrush that I carry in my bag.

Forgot to add that I use extra contact lense cases to pack toiletries and makeup for travel, then label each lid with a Sharpie. So, a dab of primer, concealer, cream blush, hair product, toothpaste and the like are perfect and you can fit all into a quart bag for carry-on! Even a few days worth of meds can be carried this way (labeled properly, of course) Same could work for touch up bag. Since Angie converted me to adding clutches to my wardrobe, I've pared way down!

Duplicates of make up. Agony over the frivolousness of duplicates was no match for the annoyance of climbing three flights of stairs because I forgot my...
My expensive hairbrush stays upstairs but I have wide tooth wooden combs on the third and first floor and in the car.
I thought I was kind of organized until I read Deborah and Maneera's posts.

No for me. For one thing, I don't travel a lot and I work at home, so on the occasions I need to take something with me I just pack it. The other reason is I'm a fan of mostly high end...duplicating all of that would get too expensive!

The only duplicates I carry with me are lipsticks. The foundation, blush powder, eye shadow combo, and mascara are only at home (unless traveling). I prefer to have only one bottle or item of each going at once, use them up and start a new one.

I do have a duplicate blow-dry brush and comb in my travel bag in case I forget to bring the others when traveling. For some reason, they are harder to remember than the make up items.

I actually keep all my lipsticks in my purse. It's the last thing I put on right before going out . I found it was easier that way, then remembering to go back and do it and bring it with me.. I also carry an extra creme blush,powder and mascara in my purse.

My little cosmetic case in my purse has a pop-up hairbrush, aquaphor, concealer stick, tinted lip balm and 1 lipstick so no duplicates.

I'm wanting to try a purse organizer now though so I could switch up my bag more often.

I tend to keep one main "seasonal" shoulder bag on the go with an organizer inside, and then another organizer or zip case with small comb (or brush), contact lens soln, tissue, lipstick and use that to put in clutch or change of handbag for church or other similar.
I have been at times super-organization-focused and had a couple of "theme" zip bags--one would have small size sunblock, mosquito repellent, facewipes or such that I would grab and toss in handbag for "outdoor" activites. So, kind of a basic + modular system so I could remove the small zip case and place back in drawer rather than have all kinds of little tubes and bottles. Also said drawer is devoted to "stuff" that is usually needed for handbag or travel tote, e.g. pocket tissue packs, travel brush, small sizes of this and that--sort of a supply drawer.

I've got a cosmetics bag that goes in my purse or tote that's got powder, a brush, and a hairbrush, along with tissues, medications, a stick sunscreen, that sort of thing. I usually don't bother with carrying more cosmetics than that, unless it's a special occasion or I'm traveling. When I worked in an office I had duplicates of the basics - foundation, powder, mascara, coverup - in my office drawer, and when I worked out at a gym I had a whole duplicate cosmetic bag so I could shower there.

I'm lazy about makeup. Unless I have special plans for the evening and I won't be able to go home before those plans, whatever I put on my face in the morning is what's going to be there (or not) at the end of the day. I have a comb in my purse, but it's rarely used unless it's a windy day and I really need to regain control of my hair. I carry a duplicate lipstick in my purse, and in the summer, sometimes blotting papers, but that's it. If I have evening plans and know I'll want to touch up before I go out, I might throw my mascara and an eye pencil in my bag too, and perhaps my tinted moisturizer for a touch up.

I have a variety of lipsticks and lip glosses in my purse that I rarely remember to use. I've always planned on having a small bag with duplicates in my purse but have never gotten around to it. I'm lucky to get makeup on in the morning so the chance of me touching up during the day is small. There was that time that I showed up to work with all my makeup applied except mascara. I have light eyelashes so it was quite a look!

ETA - I just looked in the mirror and realized I forgot to put mascara on again today! Some duplication needed for sure!

I do, because I don't like having to take my make up to my boyfriend's place when I stay there, or repack my gym bag for morning workouts. So technically, I have triples - one set in my bath at home, one at my boyfriend's apartment, and one in my gym bag.

I have a small bag with some duplicate stuff in my purse for early work mornings.

Is this the time and place for me to admit that I do not brush my hair? I don't own a hairbrush and have not brushed my hair in probably 15 years. It rarely tangles and has to be coaxed to be RATE, so I pretty much let it air-dry and flat-iron it.

What's a hairbrush? lol. I have lipglosses in every single location and bag and car I use. Gym bags, car glovebox, every purse, every coat pocket, etc. It's ridiculous. They aren't exact duplicates, but versions of the same thing, that's for sure.

I carry as little weight as possible.

Stuff in bathroom drawer. Stuff in gym locker. Stuff decanted ready for travel (nylon stuff-sacks or zip-ups: "make-up, clean-up, hair, meds" is the mantra that gets everything packed).

Lightweight purse organizer has mostly "other stuff" that weighs too much but I can't seem to do without (notebook, pens, index cards, business cards, wallet, phone, digital recorder, headphones, glasses, glasses cleaner, lenses and solution) and a small nylon pouch with comb, small brush, lip balm, lippie).

Contact lens cases for stuff for travel??? Oh! Oh! Oh!

No, but only because I use very few cosmetics and am mostly home-based. If I'm going somewhere, I'll just pop a lipstick in my bag and that's it.
For you working women I think it makes perfect sense to keep duplicates at your workplace, although it may work out rather expensive if you use a lot of products.
