That more pictures of clothing online would have a version with the model sitting down? Perhaps I'm weird but I'm curious how garments will look when I'm seated. Of course all the clothes look great when standing with good posture. I have a navy a line skirt that looks fantastic when I stand but the pockets crumple up in very unattractive ways when I sit. Angie's sit down test is really important to me now.

Never thought about having them sit. I do, however, wish they had hips and thighs;-)

Angie's sit down test is important even for tops. If a top hits at a certain point and has some structure, it can end up pushed up to bunch around my neck when I sit down. Long tops like tunics can become a lapful of fabric. I also needed a skirt car seat test when DS2 drove a low slung sporty car. My skirt that was perfectly ladylike in a chair could end up around my waist in the passenger seat

Interesting in theory, but given that models usually have a very specific body shape, I'm not sure how much help it would be for the 95% of the population who have a different shape. Plus, I imagine Photoshop would take care of any issues that did occur.

Eh, it's a tradeoff. When fashion magazines or sewing patterns show 'action shots' I usually wish I could see the details of the garment better. Standing, arms by your side, good posture shots aren't realistic for all day, but at least you can usually see what the garment looks like.

Joy, yes indeed, climbing into a car, and thinking about how an outfit will work if my two children sit on me, are two more aspects to consider.

Gaylene, I agree, my idea wouldn't help much unless there was more variety in model body types, probably. I want to know where a top will fold when I sit and it's best to just take a garment home to find that out, usually.

Rhubarbgirl, that's true, we do want to see what the whole garment looks like.

Have you ever heard of this website? <http://www.sizeable.com.au/meet-the-models/> I saw an article about it awhile ago, but since it was Australian, I did not do more than take a quick look. It allows you to pick a model closest to your size to see how the clothes look on her. <https://uk.lifestyle.yahoo.com.....se-clothes

Yes, I would like it, but I am sure they photoshop away anything that didn't meet with the look theyw anted to project.

As a curvy body type, I really wish they would show clothes on models that had more curves. And shorter legs. Especially for online only purchases. Would give me a much better idea if the piece will work for me (and I would've started buying wrap tops ages ago. I always though they were unattractive and a bit sloppy on the models )

Agree with Carter and Gaylene. Joy - a skirt car seat test would be fantastic! I also want a skirt-get-in-and-out-of-car test.

Well, these are reasons why I like to try the piece on in store. And do the sit down test. (I find the online shopping / returning business is stressful and where I live you usually have to cover the return cost.)

UmmLila: I like the idea of that web site! A variety in models would be great.

I'd start with wishing that the models had my body type and height.

I wish you could adjust the measurements on the model so you have a better idea of how your body would look in the outfit. I would be more inclined to buy online if merchandisers did that. And yes, it would be nice to see the outfit at all angles and sitting down.

There'd be a lot less needless ordering and returning if sites just gave detailed garment measurements. Some do, but most don't. Shoulder width, front and back rise, length, width.

It shouldn't be so difficult to come up with a technology solution for this. For example, a scanner in which they lay the garment flat, scan it in, overlay measurements in the image, shrink it down for the web site. You want the garment measurements for your size? Just click on the thumbnail image and view them.

My wish is to see petite items worn on petite models. They always show the regular item on a model who is 5'10". Not really useful to me.

I'd be happy if they'd just pin up the hair so I could see the neckline!!! I also hate it when the clothing is just laid flat and not even on a model so that I can't even extrapolate what it might look like on me.

You know I also wish they would show the models wearing flares and wide leg pants that are PPL. Often because the models are really tall and they are wearing standard length pants from stock and it gives a false impression of how you should wear them. I know on the proper runway shows they wear proper lengths, but your average website for the everyday brands it's not always the case. Your average non YLF'er then thinks it looks good to wear pants way too short Rant over

Thistle, I'm in the same boat as a curvy petite. Lara, that's a neat idea. Bettycrocker, very true! Shiny, I agree. That's one reason I used to love Lands End. They give the length of garment sweep and that was helpful in deciding whether a top say was too long or short. Marilyn, I so agree. I am 5'3" and it really would be useful to see clothing on shorter models. This is another reason why it's so fun to discover petite bloggers. DonnaF, yes, you can't make a good decision if you can't tell what the neckline is like.

Haha, Diane, very true! Angie's posts on PPL were quite a revelation to me when I first joined the forum. Now I really appreciate when I see someone wearing their pants long enough and understand why.
