Do skinny ponte pants = skinny jeans in MOTG formulas?

I have not had luck finding skinny jeans that fit me yet. I've tried whatever TJ Maxx had (sorry, don't remember brands) and Ann Taylor Loft. They'll fit in the legs but gape at the waist. I seriously wonder what designers think women look like sometimes.

Can I use these in the MOTG formulas that call for skinny jeans? I really like the sleekness of them, and maybe they'd fit me better? Then again, I could whip up two pairs for the price I buying one...hmmm...

Mpj- many of the ladies here have ponte knit pants that they like and wear a lot. I don't see why you couldn't be able to use those instead of skinny jeans in the formulas. If you have a JC Penney's near you- check the clearance rack there. i found a really nice pair of ponte knit pants in a charcoal gray from the She Said label. I was going to order them online since they only had one size in the store, but they are not out of stock.

Yup. They're MOTG formulas, not rules, so they're designed to be modified!

I think jeans can be taken in at the waist if they fit properly everywhere else.

Shell - heh, point taken. I was unsure, though, whether skinny ponte pants were meant to be worn more like leggings (under tunics and dresses) or were "officially" pants and didn't need the extra bum-covering length of a longer top. ("Nice outfit but you forgot your PANTS!")

I haven't seen those in person, but I have these Inc ponte pants, which I highly recommend:

The five-pocket style makes them more like jeans rather than leggings. They are pretty skinny but not as skinny as my skinny jeans, so I treat them like I do my straight legs (i.e., I will wear them with Cons). I also don't only wear them with butt-covering tops, since they do look like pants.

I have these in both gray and black, and I wear them both *constantly.* I am getting as much use out of them as my jeans. They are so incredibly comfortable. I feel like I'm cheating and wearing sweat pants. They are perfect for mom's with young kids who need to get down on the floor. And, they are machine washable. What is not to love?

The only caveat: they are super warm. Since they are made out of synthetic fabric, they don't breathe like denim does. So if the weather is above 55-60 degrees, I opt for jeans instead. For cold weather these are fantastic because they keep you so warm and toasty - even on windy days.

Yay - Shiny - I was hoping you would check in. It was your recommendation of the INC ponte pants that steered me to the Macy's site to check them out (I searched the YLF boards for ponte pants posts...hehe, say that 5 times fast).

I actually think I actually prefer the dressier style - it seems more "Audrey Hepburn" cigarette pants to me.

Although...I saw these online as well - and I adore the seaming around the knees:

I wonder if it would be hard to cut the belt loops off. Belts with knit pants is a concept I can't wrap my head around. lol

I would give the audrey hepburn pants a whirl! Or order both (or all three), see which you like the best. Earlier I think it was Maya who tried an Inc ponte pant in the store, and it was different material - not as nice. So you never know. Hard to say from the photo and description.

I do sometimes wear a belt with mine, purely to keep the pants from slipping down too low. Especially when worn tucked into boots, as it seems doing that has a way of anchoring at the bottom, which makes the waist want to creep down if it's not also anchored. I don't even notice I'm wearing a belt though - I keep it just loose enough. There's just something about the cut of these which I find IDEAL for my figure - no muffin top, hits just right on the waist, etc.
