Is it, UWP, Tomboy Style, Tough-Chic, Androgynous, Urban Fashionista, or something else?

This is not a trick question! There is no right or wrong answer. Just thought it will be interesting to hear the responses after the polarized opinions on my Tomboy Style thread yesterday.

To me it looks like urban casual, although I know that was not one of the descriptors offered up

EDIT: and I would add classic somewhere in there but not sure how - urban casual classic??

I don't know about the label, but the word that pops into my head the second I look at this is "relaxed." It's definitely structured, and indeed the boots are close fitting and literally tied tightly, but the focal point of the outfit is the flowing, draping white shirt. To me it also looks arty or artsy somehow, and the shirt definitely makes it romantic.

(I was thinking about androgyny and tomboy fashion after yesterday's post and for some reason the white shirts are making me think of these Romantic British poets--Shelley, Lord Byron...not that I could name one of their poems to save my life! LOL. But with the boots perhaps having a futuristic air to them, how about "sexy time-travelling girl poet"? I know, I won't quit my day job.

Tough Urban Chic. The boots and leather jacket in your hand give me a tough girl vibe. The crisp white shirt and skinnies I consider chic. And the shorter hair, long necklace and rolled up sleeves of the shirt I consider urban.

I'll take a stab and say Tomboy with a lot of Chic. You look ready to stride the streets of any major fashion district, climb a tree if necessary to rescue a kitten, or sit relaxed in the winter sunshine of a Paris cafe sipping a cup of tea. And then maybe you'd jump up and leap on a train bound for Milan. Wow--what a busy imaginary day you are having.

Mix of high end arty-casual and arty-chic. If I didn't know the person and had to peg their occupation, I'd say you were a graphic designer or a high end photographer who shoots in the journalistic style. I'd say you are a female version of Greg in his all-black gear.

Without looking at my neighbor's test, I'm going to say Urban Classic. The jeans and button-front look classic to me - even the boots kind of create an equestrian silhouette since they are so tall. The pixie cut, tough boots, and leather moto are the urban elements for me.

Interestingly, I do not read any kind of gender bending influence here, be it androgyny, tomboy, or menswear. Although the boots and jacket are tough, I read those styles as unisex, since they were worn by both men and women in the punk and glam rock styles. The rest seems feminine because the close cuts emphasize curves IMO.

This looks Urban Classic to me, tipping the scales more to urban. The tunic is more classic, but your hair and footwear are more urban. Plus your bag and the leather jacket you're holding add a bit of edge, too.

I'm not sure what the difference between UWP and Urban Fashionista, is exactly? I was wondering this the other day while looking at Una and Rae's outfits. What is the 'princess' element, exactly?

My take on it is "edgy classic"! I love the classic pieces of denim and the "great white shirt" but you made it your own by adding the Doc's and leather jacket. Fun to know that you can take those classic pieces that almost anyone could wear and then add some "personal pop" to make it a look all your own---love it!

Urban chic, to me. It's too classic and polished for tomboy, in my book, what with that very crisp white shirt, albeit with sleeves mussed up a bit...

To-the-knee-laces are urban combat ready, but I wouldn't say UWP because I think you look pretty spiffy - spit-and-polish, as opposed to post apocalyptic. So... Gonna have to go with Tough Chic, although Edgy Classic is giving it a run for the money.

I'm going to go with Feminine Androgyny - the white shirt, leather jacket and boots all have androgynous elements to them but then you add in the feminine hair, bag and necklace and it's definitely a pretty female look.

Otherwise, I'd vote for tough chic. It's interesting, the individual elements themselves could be considered tomboy or masculine (Docs, white button down, jeans, black leather jacket, short hair), but the flowy nature of the shirt and the necklace bring a feminine, chic nature to the look.

Ana -- I would say the difference between UWP and Urban Fashionista has to do with the fantasy element -- warrior/princess/medieval/etc. The Fashionista will be on trend, but the UWP will bring in fantasy elements and not necessarily be trendy.

I'd call this Urban Classic Cool... I love it, whatever it is! I tend to make up definitions of styles, rather than push them to fit a mold...

I think the Princess part of UWP often comes from hair, jewelry, make-up and just plain being a girl. Not all elements are always given equal play - for example, Natalie's recent outfit was definitely Princess-oriented!
