These are my first "new silhouette" pants whose hems I self-released. Tried them with some old old shoes after an old old thread of april's on what is dated.

These outfits looked better in my head and are posted merely to serve a object lessons.

1-4: hemmed ponte pants with platform booties and platform sandals of yore

5-7: reluctantly released bootcuts with winkle picker boots and the aforementioned ye olden shoes. For this set, I need a shorter top or a more fitted top.

I like them!! Particularly the black ponte pants. I like them with the sandals. I'd also like to see the black pants with the black higher shaft boots. I think that combo would work well too. I'm not feeling the short booties too much with this look, but that may just be me.

IMO these pants are both a little too short for these very high heels. I think they'd look better with flats - to my eye, the most current look for crops is a bit longer than before. Angie says 2-4" above the ankle bone. I tend to think closer to 2" for heels, closer to 4" for flats.

I like 5 the best too. I wonder if it is because the gap is taken up with the boot shaft. When I wear crops, I wear them with high-shaft booties to help close the gap.

First of all, I have to say you have amazingly beautiful and long looking legs! I cannot get over how these crops do not shorten your legs at all! Even if you decide to pass on these, I think you are lucky because you will be able to wear this style and look great.

I agree both pairs may be short according to Angie's standards, but I really like pic 5.

another vote for the fabness of #5, and nodding along with Diana-would love to see these with a fab flat....i'm thinking an oxford or loafer...(maybe with a platform).

Hurrah for hacked pants!

I think the ponte pants work well at this length with the heels and 1/2 is elegant. Nice sweater, too! And I also like #5.

I would experiment with a lower heel or flat as Diana says, and see how the lengths work with those. This could be my own feet talking, though. Heels that high aren't too walkable for me so I tremble at the sight of them.

For the pants lengths, Angie has said 2 to 4 inches above the ankle bone. I think it depends a lot on personal proportions. As a shorter person with shorter legs, I have actually found that on my body, longer is better than shorter for crops. 2 inches above works much better than anything close to 4. One pair I have are about 3 inches above, but if I go higher than that I get into the fuller part of my calf territory and it just doesn't seem to work as well, either per se, or in combination with my various footwear options. I think for taller women or those with longer legs proportionately, hacking them higher may work more easily. But I could be wrong about that.

For a reason I cannot explain (or is it all that science around the inches above the ankles?:-)) I would wear both cropped pants rather to some flats or higher shaft boots (like the jeans in nr 5) and some fluid longer tops, than will be quite the show!:-))

I know what you mean about outfits looking better in your head, or even in the mirror, but I do think you look great, even without seeing your head!

I like the cropped style better with high-vamp shoes, so my preference is for #5 too.

Thanks ladies for the ideas and feedback.

I do like #5 , possibly with a different high heel boot in chocolate and will work on a new topper.

Still like 1/2, maybe with socks.

Will post updates with flats later.

In general I think you already look good to great in all of these.
But I think even pushing up the sleeves of the top to reveal some skin would change the balance of the outfit in all cases where you have exposed ankle... exposed wrist would match that visually. I feel like that's one of the reasons #5 works so well... it's more visually balanced and seasonally matched because you're covered on both top and bottom.
Would love to see some different top options (more fitted, maybe classic white shirt), just for the exercise of comparing them!

Jules --I didn't even think about pushing up the sleeves! The whole "winter is coming" had be focused on being fully covered. Of course i can't 'splain why my feet at seasonably inappropriately clad in strappy sandals or booties with no socks.

It is a nice feeling to be able to figure these things out (sometimes), it was never intuitive for me before.
