I honestly don't love it as much as I did when I first saw the picture. It's very bulky looking - is it too big on you? I've seen you look so gorgeous - I think you can do better in terms of fit. Please forgive my bluntness - but I know it's an expensive jacket.

It is a bit big but it is supposed to be a fairly loose fit. I did think it was a touch big in the upper torso but I also like to be able to fit a suit jacket under my coats. Not sure if it is TOO big though. I don't know that I would have enough room in the hip to have the loose fit if I sized down.

Opinions?

It's a gorgeous jacket! Wow.

I think it is supposed to fit a bit oversized. That doesn't bother me. But it almost looks like a parka in the pics. vs a wool jacket. You know -- the kind stuffed with puffy stuff. Or maybe my new eyes are fooling me -- it could also be an effect of having been in a suitcase.

The "largeness" of it is less apparent to me in the store photo. So it could also be an effect of camera angle.

It's a gorgeous color.
It is cocoon-like but maybe not my idea of what would be most refined on you? As Suz said, it looks a little more square and blocky than I think it should.
I struggle with coats myself (as has been plainly seen) so I know it's hard to balance the layering, the armhole ease, the bulk and warmth needed.
Plus I can never make really direct comparison of variations on these features all at once--coats appear in random sequence and not, this one or that one?
So I dunno.

Is there possibly a camera angle issue with the new shots? The proportions look better in the store shot. In particular your head looks quite small in #2. A lot of coats look better undone but let's face it, in Canada our coats are usually quite done up, or off because it's way hot in the mall or wherever.
New photos might be required.

I like it, but I'm not in love with it on you, Dianthus. The coat seems to draw my attention, rather than drawing my eye to your face, and that's despite the pretty fur collar. So I'm a little surprised. I do really like the looks of it open on you, but as Jules says, that's not the way you'll wear it most, I assume. I agree with others that it may be the camera angle. Or possibly the color? Is it a shade of gray you were specifically wanting, or one you typically wear?

eta: I do really like it in photo 4, too. Maybe you'd wear the neck open fairly often, too. And I will say that in movement, I bet the coat will look more proportional to your body than it does in a photo where you're facing the camera head-on.

Yeah, I keep coming back to something being wonky about the photo angles in the home shots... I do like it in the store photo. How does it feel? Do you love it?

I thought I did but am not positive. I decided when I ordered it that if I kept it, I would not buy any more clothes until spring excluding underwear.
I will try to take a few more pics tomorrow.

Something looks oddly proportioned here, and I can't tell why. The coat looks puffy and wide on you (and I know it's not you!). You know I adore oversized, but this may be just too big? Or maybe you can post better pics if you think these are off?

I does look a bit too big. The proportion for length to width is off from the store picture. How do you feel on it ?

Thanks to everyone who commented. I tried it on again today and decided to return it. It is too big in the upper torso and with my short waist, seems to have a tendency to pucker or fold. I think the difference in the pics is partly that I was putting my hands in my pockets or tugging it down to make it look better and also had the camera a bit higher which can stumpify a bit. Having said that, it isn't filling a hole in m coat wardrobe and although I love the details on the coat, it isn't the best fit so it should go back.

While I was at Danier, I picked up a great pair of lambskin mitts with thinsulate lining that was made into gloves so a glove in a mitt. They were in a gorgeous port color. They were my b-day gift to my BFF. I also picked up a pair of long gloves in a very similar color for me. It wasn't a total loss but now I need to go back again to return the jacket before the 14 day return period expires.
