Custom Made Leaf Green Handbag - YAY OR NAY?

I have today been in touch with the lovely Caroline Marr from Cuero Handbags, she lovingly designs and crafts handbags from her small workshop in the Scottish Borders. After exchanging several emails with Caroline this morning I'm considering having this handbag made
http://cuero.co.uk/index.php?productID=220

I love the vintage aesthetic of the bag but I'm finding the black a little uninspiring. Caroline explained that I could choose the colour of leather for no additional charge, the leather she has at present which would work with the design are a dark red leather, a brick red suede or a leaf green leather. I'm so in love with the idea of a pleated leaf green handbag!

The brighter green spot of this particular bag is the leather in question

Can you visualise the handbag? The quality of the bags are fantastic, they are lined with suede and have featured in British Vogue.

I'm not overly concerned with the green being a spring colour because it will work with my wardrobe. I have black, brown and grey boots and shoes. Black, brown and black/white and denim jackets.

I am a little concerned that I'm being carried away with the romanticism of having a bag made so my question to you is YAY OR NAY?

Thank you for your replies

Julie

Go for it absolutely! I'm jealous!

Ooooo what a statement piece, it's a yay from me both on the leaf green colour and the pleated style x

It's a really cute style, and I love the color. I think it will work really well for you.

I vote YAY. I agree that the black might be a little boring, but in that leaf green I think it's a standout that will go with lots of things.

Hope you'll post pictures if you go with it!

I vote yay (even though it doesn't carry much weight considering my bag ineptitude). Love the style, and it would look great in that green... and I can picture you with it very vividly.

It seems you really like it and want it and have thought about the versatility for your wardrobe and it sounds like you are going to really get some good use out of it. I say go for it!

oh is that lovely...I would love one in red.

Lucky you!!!

Yes, go for it! I love the color--it will add a great pop to your spring/summer wardrobe, and I also think the bag will look good in green.

Thumbs up from me! What a beautiful bag. I love the lack of hardware. I want one in apple green too.

Gorgeous bag shape and I think the green will mix in well with your wardrobe.
Can't say no to a new bag especially a custom made peice.

Thank you so much everyone, I never expected a unanimous YAY on this piece, I honestly thought there may be concerns about the colour or not seeing the completed item before committing to paying a deposit.

YLF always surprises and amazes me.

I'm going to see Caroline in person in a couple of weeks and will order the bag then, I just want to touch and wear the black bag in her workshop to make sure I'm comfortable with the size of the bag and length of strap. I will post many photos when the handbag is completed.

I think the shape is gorgeous and the leaf green sounds wonderful. I just had to make a digital bag to get a good look:

As my daughter would say WOW WEEE, thanks Bigi you are a GENIUS, that really has taken the 1% doubt away. Thank you so much.

Wow bigi how fab is that. Julie 200% yay after seeing the digital bigi version x

Caroline just emailed to say there may not be enough of the green leather left, all that I can say is

However she does have many, many more colours to choose from so I will still make the trip across to her workshop. Oh well ce la vie!

Glad it was helpful. I enjoy playing with Photoshop. (Maybe Ralph Lauren could use me - lol ).

Posted 3 weeks ago

Oh, too bad. But the shape is still gorgeous, I think that bag can look great in many colours!

I've got everything crossed for enough green leather, though i'm sure it would work in another bright colour too x

Posted 3 weeks ago

Thanks guys, I think it may look awfully pretty in silver, what do you think?

Posted 3 weeks ago

I think we need to get bigi on it! Not sure about silver x

Posted 3 weeks ago

Thanks Louise, I was thinking a soft silver such as this rather than spaceman

I'm sure I will be inspired when I visit her!

That looks like a beautiful bag. I bet you can look at the leather options when you are there in person and find one that you love.

And post photos when it's finished!

Silver is difficult but here's an attempt:

It would look more shiny in reality. I think it would look fabulous!

Posted 3 weeks ago

Bigi you're great at this. Julie after seeing it i think it would definitely work in silver x

Posted 3 weeks ago

You are ever so kind Bigi, thank you very much. From your photoshop I can say that I like the silver but would prefer to have a colour.

That was a really useful exercise.

Thank you again.

RoseandJoan, you'll have to post pictures when you get it. The shape and style is so great that whatever color you get it'll be beautiful!

Bigi, very cool use of photoshop!
