Perusing Saks site. They're calling out understatement as a trend (I guess that would be like minimalism renamed), but it does seem distinctive to me and true. Everything on La Garconne seems "understated" to me. I was getting that feeling from some other sites too. I feel a strong undercurrent of understatement in everything, actually. All the shows, on the street. Even when things are bright and crazy, I feel there's a bit of holding back.
Anyways what have I noted so far?
- Rose gold
- Sporty luxe - particularly sneakers with dresses and footbed slides
- Culottes (they seem to have picked up some steam)
- The colour Poppy (that bright tart red) with light blue
- Sleeveless jackets
- The string bow and ruff (since Annagybe pointed it out, I've been seeing more versions)
- Cricket sweaters
- ETA: Gingham
- Plus Understatement
I kinda feel sporty luxe is a part of understatement, and that understatement is a trend in that non-fad, long term sense. A real direction.
And even tho I've seen greens, pinks, and yellows... they don't feel like either trends or fads to me. Can't say why. If they're there, they're there...
