Corduroy pants wearing ladies...fit?

(I'm feeling guilty about this. One of my first posts after a self-imposed exile, and it's about...cords. I'm sorry, Angie!!)

Anyhoo... I'm trying a pair of chocolate colored skinny cords, and I'm obsessing over fit. I wear my skinny jeans very...well, skinny and tight. These cords are basically jeans in corduroy fabric, but the tight fit feels a little too self-conscious.

Are you ladies wearing cords fitted the same way you're wearing skinny jeans, or should I be getting these in a more relaxed but still slim style? I tried a size up, but the waist was far too big.

I'm looking at these. The fit on me is pretty much the same as the fit on the model in terms of tightness:

If they fit like in the pic, that seems good to me. As long as they don't look like you're wearing stockings as pants...

Hee hee - I've been battling skinny cords fit for a while I recently decided on the VS cargo ones but they are looser than I thought they'd be on first wear (pics 1 and 2). Perhaps yours will stretch out a bit? FWIW, I like the skinny fit as on the model.

I think the model looks like the right fit. I'm not sure cords will work for me in general but I have some strange desire to try some on so I went for it. I'm hoping that truly skinny cords will avoid that "sound" problem of cords - no extra material, no sound?. I just ordered some and am awaiting their arrival...not sure they will work but they seem so country casual and I'm living that life now.

Mo, I was hoping you'd weigh in! I like the fit of yours a little better...slim but not skin tight. I think I'll wear these around the house to see if they stretch any.

I like the cords on the model and on Mo, different fits though they are! My cords are slim fit on top and straight leg at the bottom (narrow enough to fit into boots, but wide enough that they don't look tapered at the end).

Yeah, mine fit pretty much like the pic you linked - maybe a tiny bit thicker fabric, but still slim like that.

Corduroy can bag out more than some denim, so I'd personally err on the side of too tight.

Beth, I've quite liked the skinny cords at Madewell on some of my clients. The wale is *very* narrow that you can barely see that they are cords - which to my eye looks a million times better. They bag out a little, but not too bad at all. When worn with tall boots, I can live with it!

That's my only cord recommendation this season, I'm afraid.

I think the model's fit is in line with what's considered commonplace these days. I'm seeing lots of cord skinnies in my office and they are definitely being worn slim vs boyfriend.

FWIW, if you imagine narrow bootcuts vs skinnies your example is the way I wear my cords.

Truncated pic (goofing around with family last holiday season) but you can probably tell there ain't much room in the thighs for extra pie.
