I do own a skirt that is a wardrobe orphan. I bought this skirt fully knowing it might never be worn. Sigh. This skirt aligns with my fantasy life. It is rich pink with lots of layers. It is not tulle, but gives the illusion of tulle. I keep it because I always think "some day I'll wear that skirt in public." The real reason is I couldn't bear to part with it.

I think we're all guilty of that. I have a couple of orphaned clothes that I refuse to part with and I also refuse to give up hope that one day I will wear them out somewhere. There is always hope!

I'm jumping in here to offer support. I also own a beautiful orphan skirt that has no top at the moment. Every so often I browse online to see if there's anything that would work with it. The skirt is so gorgeous that I wouldn't dream of passing it on. But it's a shame.

Oh, don't be so hard on yourself, Sterling. We ALL give in from time to time to buy items for a fantasy life. If it brings a smile to your face every time you see it, it goes into the 'sentimental' piece category.
