I had a very exciting day today. I went from work to a lovely business close to 2 hours from home, in Pittsford, NY called Indigo Tones. The owner, Kerry Stitch, has an impressive background, and is a warm, welcoming and fun person. I knew this was a good fit for me when I saw that we were dressed like twins! We were wearing identical colors including our earrings. (Grey pants, green shirt, green earrings) I almost burst out laughing! (Turns out we have the same personal color profile.)

Background. I have received numerous comments that the colors I have been wearing look draining and wash me out. I have struggled for years to find the right colors to wear. Is it just me, or does everyone have this problem?!! I have been draped for colors so many times it's embarrassing to admit. None of the personal color seasons I have been assigned have worked well. I could never understand why that was the case or why it was so hard to shop using them. Shouldn't all the colors in a palette work for someone? Kerry's training and background fit the bill and she was able to explain why I have struggled.

Kerry's results were clear and unmistakeable--------------LIGHT SUMMER!!

I have to admit that I was surprised, and a bit overwhelmed. Kerry explained that it is unusual to have green eyes in the light summer group. She was initially thinking I would be in the light spring category. However light spring drapes did not look good. There were too many colors that looked wonky. The Light Summer drapes looked awesome, and every single color in the palette worked without exception. This is the first time this has happened in my life of being color typed. Kerry gave me an explanation for why others may not have come up with the same results and I won't include it here because it is long.

She tweaked my makeup by changing my blush, and eyeshadow. I kept everything else the same. Then we talked about hair color. She thinks I should increase the dimension, cool my hair down but keep it light. I am getting my hair done tomorrow. I hope my hairdresser will agree!

She thinks I should keep my glasses, not change them, but with the changes in my hair and makeup, and wearing the correct colors, I will look much better. I am not going to post any pictures today and hopefully I can show off a new look soon.

I hardly have any of these colors in my closet. It's a good thing I haven't gone on a shopping spree yet. In fact the only items I've purchased since my no spend September were the boots I posted a while back. Everything else was returned. I have been waiting to update these things first. She suggested winter white for my winter coat. I'm considering this now, and or one of the blues. She thinks those would be good for me also.

If you have continued reading this entire post thanks! I know it has been extra long! This has truly been a style journey. It seems like only a few weeks ago that I found out I had a rectangle body shape, not a pear shape, and now I am learning that I am a Light Summer color type, not a Soft Autumn. All this change is making me a bit dizzy!

Check back in a day for the big reveal of the new hair color! (Hopefully it will be good!)
