Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

Cognac shoes ~ What color outfits to pair with?

Besides the obvious neutrals (black, cream)?

I'm thinking olive green, camel, turquoise/teal maybe?

Thoughts or favorite color combinations?

I have a pair of heels I picked up in that color & have also been thinking about boots for fall (yes I know, one season at a time ;). But, just thinking general wardrobe color combinations.

What would you do?

Ideas?

JG, could you take a picture? I'm afraid what I think is cognac might not be what you are describing, depending on if it's more of a reddish or nutty brown. (Google "cognac leather" to see what I mean) I would see cognac heels with almost anything, but I love when a beautiful leather is paired with dark denim - the contrast makes me smile. Add a white or cream top (especially a turtleneck or cowl neck in winter) with a bright bag or scarf and I'm in heaven! Simple and elegant.

Best of luck finding your boots! That sounds like a versatile purchase.

Hi JewelryGirl. I love cognac- it is one of the browns that I gravitate toward. I think because it's so "warm", I like to wear it with darker, more neutral hues. So, I wear my cognac shoes with indigo denim and brown, green, olive or black tops, but not reds or oranges. Come to think of it, though- this might be because I have so much more of the first group in my wardrobe, rather than a reflection of what actually looks the best. I also never wear cognac with grey, but have no idea why! It just feels wrong to me, I guess.

Laura - here's a pic http://www.zappos.com/product/7498442/color/309

Ele, I'm drawn to more earth tones as well so what you & Laura mention I think will both work. Also, a sage or olive color top, black. Any other ideas?

Thanks ladies!
