Clothes/accessories your mom wears/wore which you like?

Peplum tops (in the '80s, but without the huge shoulder pads; my mom always made them herself and left the pads out, which was much better for my broad shoulders). The "peplums" they make now are not as fitted, and don't look nearly as good. I did, however, manage to find a really nice peplum top with matching pencil skirt a few months ago. I really love it.

Nice gray d'orsay pep-toe heels with a bow. A nice golden top and skirt that looked like a dress. Some wedge cognac boots she let me borrow for my first concert. She still has some suede heeled boots i love. I think I love all her shoe wardrobe .

Everything! My mom is my style icon. She manages to dress her body flawlessly at each and every size. Also, she always wears the clothes, never the other way around. That is no small feat.

My favorite item is an aquamarine pinky ring she had custom made a while back.

My mom = fabulous shoe collection
My grandmother = fabulous suits and blazers

I can't wear my moms shoes becuase we are different sizes, however 3 of my (late) grandmothers blazers are in my closet right now. One of my favorites was a red jacket with black velvet lapels, I wish I would have gotten that one!

A long camel dress coat. She used to travel for work and wore it with tall heeled brown boots.

Fluttery disco dresses and wide legged pants.

A quintessential long black formal wool coat, with a back slit, usually worn with calf-length leather boots. I remember this as a frequent look on her when she used to go out to parties/banquets in the 80s. She was/is a super social butterly.

I never thought of it in that way! But everything. I loved her clothes and she purposely had almost none. Never wore jewelry or scarves. Only carried one purse. I can't say I loved her purse or her shoes - she had bunions and wore always the same style open low wedge with wide straps. Southern California and we had a car, so effectively no winter.
I am now moving toward rethinking jewelry and scarves and craving an open neckline.
Mom wore no pants - Dad didn't like them on women - and simply cut dresses (I don't recall her ever keeping more than 2 at a time) and housedresses she sewed herself that were cut like a shift, so you could actually wear them out anywhere. One coat. One jacket. (don't ask me how many I have) No shirts or tops or sweaters as tops. No skirts. She was about 5' - 5'2 and 165-185 lbs, apple shaped and I'll tell ya, men flirted with her all the time.

This is a great question ! As I get older, I get more attached to my fashion moments of my mom.

She wore skirts until I was well into adulthood. She always wore heels, on the lower side. But her scarves were the most impressionable. She only had 2 or 3 ( I have around 25 ). She also wore earrings every day, the same ones and special ones on Sunday. I also have an affinity for earrings.

Though we didn't have much money for things beyond basics ( we immigrated when I was 4 ), my parents always believed in good shoes and saved up to make sure we always had good boots and shoots. And I thought that my boot proclivity came from Angie....
