So here I go again! This time it's my coats, and I have more than my fair share since I live in wintery, snowy cold Central New York where we get more than 116 inches of snow average every winter. This does not include my non-lined raincoats, and I missed one lined raincoat, that I am going to keep. My coats were tightly stuffed into a 3 foot mud hall closet along with the mops, my husbands 3 coats, and assorted winter gear.
Pics: 1. LLBean raincoat 2/3. DKNY wool coat 4/5. Green Creenstone 6.Tan Creenstone 7. TNF Down puffer (lightweight long) 8. Eddie Bauer Down puffer 9. TNF short Down Puffer 10. TNF Down Sweater 11. LL Bean thinsulate coat (age and origin unknown) 12. Wool/Fur Cape 13. Cole Hahn Wool/Mohair Coat

So this was easy. I am going to eliminate 4. Numbers 1 2/3, 6, and 11. Number 10 may look like a duplicate of 9, but it is a down sweater not a coat. I often layer it under my coats. My son thought I should include a picture of it to show how much I love chocolate brown down puffy things! My son also made me laugh about one of my favorites, number 12, saying it looks like an ugly blanket with fur collar and cuffs. I happen to love it, and have always loved poncho's and capes. My great aunt knit my first when I was in 4th grade, and I have always had at least one in my closet ever since. Wearing them always makes me think of her, and I loved her dearly.

Coat 6's elimination may not seem obvious. It's a tan Creenstone that has seen two seasons of heavy use. It feels a bit snug when I wear sweaters underneath. It is also heavy in weight and I really prefer something that feels lightweight, but provides much warmth. I may try to rescue the collar, so don't be surprised if you see me with a Coyote collar on some other item of clothing. (My son also thinks it looks fake, but it isn't)

Number 1 is an llbean wool lined raincoat. I actually thought it belonged to my husband so we have been moving it from place to place for years. I just found out it belongs to me! Ha ha! Not for long! Goodbye! I must have used it when I was pregnant and then completely forgotten about it, It's more than 20 years old! So number 2/3 is in the same category as number 1, it was definitely used when I was pregnant, but I deliberately saved it because I liked the color and the fabric. Just last year I managed to find the Cole Hahn chocolate Brown coat which I consider to be it's replacement, but I forgot to purge the original DKNY. Number 11 is my snow shoveling coat. I have no idea where it came from, but it is only fair. I think I would rather wear Number 8 or 9 when shoveling snow. They are warmer. Good bye number 11. You have been around long enough!

Using Lisap's question of Would I purchase any of these now? The answer for the coats I am planning to purge is "No"! (Especially not the pregnancy coats! The answer for those I am going to keep is "Yes"! Will I miss any of these coats? I am wondering If I will miss number 6. Not sure because it is one that I gravitated towards a lot last winter. Maybe that was more for the hood, than the style of the coat. I think the fact that it was hard to zip became a nuisance. Well, that jogged my memory, and now I don't think I will regret it at all. Cold weather with an unzipped coat, struggling with my computer bag, and my purse, trying to run from my car to the office building where I work in blizzard conditions. No, not good. Adios tan coat!
