Cleaning thrifted leather

Hi all,

I thrifted a knee-length black leather coat with a defined waist :)
This is my first thrifted leather item and I have no idea how to clean it. It is in good condition, has no stains or marks but I would like to clean it before I wear it. Any suggestions or ideas?

Ask around or try a phone book for leather cleaners. Some dry cleaners will do leather, but you will have the best luck if you have a referral. Look online for reviews, ask for references, and you'll have your jacket clean in no time!

If you call different cleaners, make sure to specify the type of leather: suede, if there is a "polish" or patent quality, etc. to ask for an estimate. Good luck!

Thanks LE.

Is there a DIY way of doing this? Products I can use at home?

Yep- go to your local higher end shoe store (or even some cheap ones), or cobbler. They should have leather cleaner and care products. Leather usually cleans up beautifully. Great find!
