Charcoal dress - keep or not?

Here is another dress I got two weeks ago that I am still undecided on. I like it and it fits well, but I am not sure if it has a bit of boho vibe to it, and boho is so not my style. Many thanks!

Hmm...I know what you mean about the boho vibe. Have you tried it layered with a blazer and some sleek boots and stockings? That might slick it up a bit and take away some of the laid back bohemian styling of the dress. I think it's the sleeves that are most "bohemian."

I tried that dress too. I felt it was too "renaissance" for me. I didn't like something about the sleeves... so I returned it.

This just isn't your style to me Tanya. It's pretty and I can see Cathy or Jean wearing something like this because it matches their style personas well. Ana's suggestions would work, but considering all the fab things you have bought in the past several weeks, I don't really feel that this dress adds anything to your wardrobe. I say pass.

I love the dress and everything looks great on you!! I agree with others, I do not think you will feel comfortable in this style. You have more polish. It would be fun perhaps to venture out of your style but this dress feels a bit too boho. I think that it would look even more so with slouch boots. Ana's suggestions are good ones, if they do not work for you I would take it back.

Tanya, I actually tried this dress on at the Rack - it didn't do much for me, but looks fantastic on you. I don't think it's very boho - it's sort of arty and also reminds me of the renaissance, like Marianna says. I would keep it - I think you can work it into your style. MS has good pictures for this kind of dresses as styling ideas. I also think it looks "smarter" in person than in the picture.

I love how that dress looks on you! It fits really well and is flattering. I was thinking it was grecian-renaissance in a way. And yes Maya, I would wear that dress in a heartbeat.

Granted, it's not the style I would imagine you in. But it's fun to branch out -- as long as you feel comfortable.

I love it! Fantastic colour (I could see it with red accessories) and it really flatters you. I would wear this on a Saturday afternoon when meeting up with my friends for coffee or slightly later in the afternoon for a glass of wine.

Oh, I am having a good laugh here, because I *do* own this dress, in navy! You're right Angie I wear it with cream microfishnets and chestnut slouchy boots.

Tanya, I love the dress and love it on you. BUT, you have to be willing to head a bit into boho territory. However, it's not like the dress is made of macrame and beads or something very boho, so this might be a perfect subtle starting point for you.

Thank you all for you opinions ( I got it Marshall's for those who asked). I am going to take it back. The very fact that I am doubting it should tell me something. And I am certainly not dying to put it on and get out, which is a test I read somewhere for situations like this.

I think you have made the right decision Tanya, it is no use having all 9 or 10's in your wardrobe if you will never wear them.
