I have really been thinking about a white watch for the summer and I really love some of the ceramic models.

But... I am not the easiest on things and have two young kids who are constantly pulling on my watches & jewelry too. And with Angie's shattered band story and a lot of the reviews on these watches cite chips.... Are these isolated instances or the norm?
I know the look wouldnt be quite as posh, but I considering just getting a new watch band for a watch with a pretty white w/silver face/gold case that was recently acquired from DH's discard collection. He has had it since HS 20 years ago so it's durability is a proven commodity. (Pic 1)

What do you think? Will the new band give this watch a fresh summer look or drop money on the ceramic and hope I don't break it?
P.S. I am also lusting after a large gold tone mens watch will likely be a "share watch" btwn DH and myself... maybe spend the money there instead of the ceramic.
Would love your inputs! Thanks!
ETA: do i just order this one from Nordie's online (none local) and hope their telephone customer service is as outstanding as in store should I develop any problems? Anyone have experience with this aspect of their business?
