Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

casual jacket for rainy days

We recently went on a farmstay and a women I saw on the daily tractor ride had the perfect farmstay capsule wardrobe; slim jeans tucked into wellies, blue turtle neck and a nice fitted anorak with a fake fur trim.

And I suddenly realised that is was about time I updated my anorak/parker what ever you call them which was bought in, wait for it, 1994! It doesn't even zip up.

Angie have you blogged on this topic - I couldn't find anything on a cursory look.

I think I may have missed the boat for this winter but I'll be looking next...

Oh! I live in the city of rain. I know all about staying dry out on the streets. All you need is a stylish weatherproof trench that errs on the side of casual.

except not this one because
1)hate the colour
2) too pricy
3) don't like those drawstrings on the pockets

Oh! You’re talking about a parka or puffer coat. I’ve written loads of posts on those. Here are a few to get you started :

Thanks Angie - I mustn't have been using the right terminology to search.

Any advice on length for a person of my build and stature? (5'4") I know hip length jackets are a good look on me but I'd prefer longer for warmth (long enough to cover my bottom while sitting)

Longer length sounds good. Definitely a warmer option. But I can’t imagine that it gets cold enough for that in Oz. That’s what we wear here when it’s below freezing.
