Capsule wardrobe challenge: Kari

I played along with the capsule wardrobe challenge this week, too. I wasn't terribly innovative or stylish compared to a lot of the challenge responses I've seen, but I had a lot of fun learning how to be creative with a small wardrobe. It was a fun challenge, but I'm looking forward to having a wider range of clothes to choose from next week!

Day 1

Day 2 & 3

Day 4

Day 5

Throughout the week I wore:
Clothes
1. Gray Classiques Entier sheath dress
2. Rose-colored tissue weight tee from Anthropologie
3. Tan suede Sofft boots
4. JAG bootcut jeans
5. Cobalt blue button-down blouse from Express
6. Black INC waistcoat
7. Gray CL by Laundry pumps
8. Brown IMPO boots
9. Mustard cord Halogen jacket
10. Denim Bisou Bisou trench coat

Accessories
1. Mauve satchel
2. Express faux pearl necklace
3. MNG by Mango printed scarf
4. Periwinkle stone necklace
5. Black headband with white polka dots

Since hose was a "free" item, I also wore nude Oroblu microfishnets and gray DKNY tights.

Kari, your outfits look soo different from one another. If I didn't know you were doing the capsule challenge I would have never guessed that you only had 10 items to work with. What is the very secret? seriously, I am very impressed.

Kari,

As usual your use of color is AMAZING....you are a master at this...nice layering on the sheath dress:) You look beautiful each day!

Like Bella, I can't believe only 10 items :)

Hi Kari! I love how you layered the sheath dress over a fitted top on day one. What a great idea to get more use out it! Nice boots, too. Days two and three are super. I like the mustard blazer and grey skirt combo. I love mustard and grey. I love the purple necklace from Day four, and how you've totally remixed everything for Day five. Very creative!

I also really like your blog. It's very clean and easy to read which I'm learning is not necessarily an easy thing to accomplish. :D

Thanks, Bella, Taylor, and Ana! I'm not sure how well I created 5 *very* different looks, but I appreciate the compliment! I think I just listed my "basics" that I couldn't really get through the week without - a vest, a dress, a scarf, and boots - and tried to see how many different looks I could create using them with different colors. I was also very glad that the sheath dress has turned out to be more versatile than I first imagined.

Ana, I don't know that I have tried mustard and gray before, but I love the combination now, especially with red. Thank you!

Wow. I've been so impressed with everyone and their capsule challenges. You join the ranks of stylish with a small closet. I love that this shows that a small closet is doable and that you can get so many different looks out of a few items.

Thank you all for the warm and encouraging comments! Yeah, I guess I can't go a week without wearing lots of bright colors. I guess that's just one of the things that has unintentionally become my style over time, but it makes me feel cheerful to have something bright on my body. Maybe that's silly, but it gets me through the day.

Kellygirl, you are too sweet - thank you! I've never quite got over being self-conscious of my smile after years of bad teeth and braces, so your compliment really felt great to hear. Thanks!

Kari, I haven't read all the capsule wardrobe posts yet but I have to say that yours is AMAZING! The other comments are right - your use of color is fantastic. I love the lightweight T under the CE sheath dress, I am so stealing that idea.

Way to ROCK the challenge!

Thanks so much, Tam, Danja, and Medusa! I really had a blast trying this out for the first time even thought it was tricky. I had a lot of fun with color and I'm glad that it shows. Medusa, feel free to steal away with the light-weight tee under the sheath dress! It definitely kept me warmer.
