Can I pull off this midi+oxfords+socks outfit?

In light of Angie's blog post today...

I chickened out and did not actually wear the socks+oxfords combo, but I thought I'd ask you all yay or nay.

IMHO the ruffley socks are a little over the top. Maybe a regular sock in the tone of the top would work better?

I love the concept on hip and on-trend midi you, Diana!

Personally, I would prefer to see taupe socks as opposed to grey ones. A lower colour contrast between the oxfords and the socks will look more smashing to my eye. But then, this is sweet too

Btw, I want to thank you for always making such astute and supportive blog post comments. I don't think that you have ever missed a day - and I much appreciate that. You also made a GREAT comment on the midi post this morning. I will comment on it so watch out for the comment.

I think it would be perfect if you switch the colors of the shoes and socks, or if both were nude. Other than that, it's a super fun outfit, especially the details on the midi!

Thanks, everyone. Angie, I totally agree that the socks should be lighter and lower contrast... I apparently only have 2 pairs of suitable ankle socks, and the other one is the same style but black. I think I might have a look and see if I can't acquire some nude-ish colored ones though - socks are cheap and I really want to try this look!

I might also try these grey socks with my black and white Fluevog mary janes... although I have a feeling that it might be too sweet and twee.

A resounding yes from me, Diana!

First of all, you just seem to effortlessly rock all types of dresses and skirts. I keep admiring your outfit pictures and wondering why I can't do that:-)
Secondly, those oxfords are fab!

I actually didn't mind the grey socks in this outfit because I thought they picked up the colour of your skirt. (lovely skirt too, and you look beautiful in these colours).

I do love the idea of taupe socks too, so I can't wait to see your next interpretation.

I think a lower contrast sock would certainly work, but the gray may also work if you pushed them down so there is only a teeny bit of the sock+ruffle showing. Like a ruffled gray shoe lining

Great idea here. I like this look a lot if the socks were a tad shorter and closer in color to the shoes as already suggested. Lovely length skirt on you.
