Can I get opinions on some glasses?

I've been looking for some new glasses for about a month. Not looking hard, but checking out enough places that it's getting frustrating. I have eyed these ones since Day 1... didn't look at them seriously as I was hoping to avoid black this time. My current glasses are black (but I can't find them!!) so wanted something different. But it appears pretty much impossible to find anything in a shape that works for me, in a colour that also works for me. Plus, these ones have citron flowers on the side, which I think softens the black. I brought them home a week or so ago as a bit of a lark, but they are REALLY growing on me. And have got thumbs up from a couple of friends whose opinion I value.

But I'd still like more opinions :). What do you think of them? I think it's the right shape, my hesitation is whether or not they are a bit wide.

I like them, but think you can do better. I find these frames a bit too square on the bottom outside corners. Ever so slightly droopy. Frames that "lift" are generally more flattering. Fun colour combination though. I love the temples.

They do look a bit wide, Elizabeth, but I also like them! The slight lift and the citron on sides (almost looks like leopard) make them flattering as well as fun.

I think it's great to have a darker pair of glasses for "bookending" with darker colours now that your hair is light. So even if they are not your only pair, they could be a useful choice. I liked my black glasses for that reason, even though some felt they were overpowering to me. You have brighter/ stronger colouring than I do and can wear the black much more successfully, so if they worked for me to an extent, they ought to work for you even better.

I like them and I agree that the flowers at the temple do soften the style, but it's still overall an intense black frames statement look.
If you wear glasses often I think more than one pair might be a really good idea. While I think of you as often wearing bold outfits, you also recently posted a softer look in cream that I thought was incredibly flattering and maybe it would be fun to have a "softer" looking frames too?

Thanks Angie... I do know what you mean. Many of the ones that had more slightly rounded corners made my eyes look close together and squitty, so it's a direction I need to be careful of. Amazing how the tiniest detail in glasses can make such a huge difference.

And Suz... great point about black being my bookender. I do miss my darker hair in that regard, and will always have copious amounts of black shoes. Regardless of the season ;-). Solid black glasses can be overpowering on me now, but the citron softens this a lot.

Isabel - yup, I was hoping for softer ones this time around. But Suz has such a good point with the bookending, I'm suddenly thinking maybe black IS the way to go now, for the first pair, then I'll be able to look for something else with no time pressures. Frames change over so quickly. I never wore glasses much, but the time has come that I want to be wearing them more.

A bit too rectangular for your face. What brand are they? They look quite similar to some I tried last summer(COCO Song-don't remember the style name)as finally bougth another style (Take Me) which is a bit more rounder on corners and the bridge.

That's exactly what they are Lyn - wow, I'm impressed! So, the Take Me are by Coco Song? I might see if I can take a look at them. Thank you.

I do like them quite a lot, though I get what others mean about the squareness. I don't find them too wide though.

I think you can carry them off and look pretty in them, although they wouldn't be for everybody. If you're significantly myopic and drive in them, you don't want to go too small or too narrow because you will lose a lot of peripheral vision that way.

I agree that glasses are so inexpensive these days (especially at places like Zenni and cheapglasses123 dot com) that it makes sense to have more than one pair, especially if you have multiple fashion personae.

Having gone through the anguish of glasses hunting recently, I feel for you as you look for your new pair. I like these but I do think you could do better. I agree that a shape that "lifts" would work beautifully for you. And don't shy from black as I feel the right black pair would be perfect for your overall style. Derek Cardigan has some really cool frames if you are looking for other options.

I love the color and style on you. It doesn't look like your eyes are quite centered in the lenses, though, so that makes me think they are little wide. Or the bridge is too wide.

I tried and wanted those (like you) in color 2-(black and green/citron leaves, white on the inner and antique silver hardwear-which I loved).

But than decided on the "Take me"-s, which were a bit more rounded-and found them a better shape for my face. Mines are rather a very dark black brown, nude to me on the inner side (but still have a thin white slice in them on the edges) and turquoise splashes on the front sides, others in turquoise and rust on temples + antique gold hardwear. The colors went also a bit better than harsher (for me-but good for you) bl&w, as have bit of olive skin(you do have pale skin), and am blonde(you have white hair).

Thanks Lyn! Those glasses look great on you. I've tried ones with the slightly rounded bottoms like that and they don't work for me at all.... so thanks for posting that, now I know I (probably) don't need to try to see them. But man, I love the splash of turquoise!

I'm horrible with clothes but I wear glasses and have always had a hard time picking them so I think I've seen enough of them to comment.
I don't think they're horrible, but you can definitely do better. Try to pick one that puts your eye in the middle of the glass. Because your eyes are a bit closer together (like mine) this might become a bit of a challenge. Having frames that have a bit more plastic on the outside top edge can help. Rounded frame bottoms don't look good on me at all, but this worked quite fine because it's only very slightly rounded.
