Angie's blog post today really spurred me into action this morning, to the point where I completely scrapped the outfit I'd planned to wear. Here's what I came up with... Does it work? Specifically, is the scarf ok with the jeans, and does it work tied this way?

I love the outfit, you look so hip and classic at the same time.Those red jeans were a great choice in your fashion journey.

Personally I would wear the scarf with the Angie knot or more loosely around the neck.

Cute outfit, Michelle. While I think there is nothing wrong with your scarf as is, I'd like to see a more vertical tie or longer scarf with this outfit. But I am no expert, let's let others chime in.

Agree the outfit is fab, and agree a slightly lower on the torso tie on the scarf might take it from 105% to 110%. Adorable!

I like your outfit! It isn't written in the blog,but Garance is wearing a longer scarf, it is wrapped once around her neck and the points ends at the same point as her jacket ends. The scarf in Angies picture is also of that kind. I think it looks more balanced in that way. Now you are kind of wearing a top and a shawl, if you have it longer it becomes an ensemble.

Great outfit! I love the red jeans with the stripes. The scarf is good as is, but I agree that a more loosely tied knot, and longer ends/tails, will be even better.

Thank you all, ladies!! I'm not sitting at the office (yeah, we can totally dress like this here), and I've retied the scarf so the Angie knot hits me about where the v-neck of my top does. The scarf now falls to about the bottom of my jacket. Thanks to you all, I feel really good in this getup! And I never would have thought to pair this scarf with the top without Angie's prodding. Pattern-mixing is tough for me, for obvious reasons, but I feel awfully current at the moment.

Great outfit. I have been tying my scarves into a loop so that they make a faux infinity loop scarf. You can do this with this scarf too. Just tie off the corners and put the knot in the back to make a front loop. That would be perfect. That bag is adorable by the way!

Michelle, you look beautiful. This outfit seems to be tailor-made for you. The red jeans with your dark hair is stunning. And I like the lighter colored handbag. Sounds as though you've got the scarf sorted, so you can be confident that you are truly looking FAB. (Oh, you know the only other thing I might tweak, is to make sure the sleeves on your jacket stay scrunched or rolled so that the ends of your sleeves are not falling at the same place as the hem of your jacket. Geesh that was an awkward sentence - but, do you get what I'm trying to say???)

Thank you all for the feedback and constructive help. I felt absolutely great in this outfit all day and can see this being a winter workhorse for me. And I can't tell you how fun it is to walk around looking like I know what I'm doing re. pattern mixing and really not having a clue. Thank you all so very much.
Rita: great tip about the scarf. I oiginally tried to wear it in the messy cowl-style and vieoed it, but I think your way is better. On cooler days when I could use the insulation around my nekck it will be a godsend
