My journey to Macy's was pretty unproductive today EXCEPT for finding a strand of pearls that could potentially be a good find, but of course I need your approval first! They had a nice creamy sheen but I wasn't sure if they're too small. Tag said 14mm. Is this what I'm looking for or should I hold out for something even bigger?

14 mm sounds great. A little smaller than the AT ones, but you are petite and this could work . Do they shorten to a flattering choker length? This is crucial.

They were a bit too long for choker length, unfortunately, but they were nearly identical to the AT ones (16" with a 2" extender). I have a very skinny neck so it might be tough to find one that's short enough.

I have a skinny neck too and the AT pearls shorten perfectly. I say get them and model them for us!

If they ever come back in stock I will! I just measured around my neck where I would wear a choker and it's only 12". I will have to try them on in person.

Grin, I'm thinking London (although that darn pound is still expensive), Barcelona (good shopping and great atmosphere), Paris (of course) or Antwerp (we are after all one of the most fashionable cities in Europe).

Love it! Ah wouldn't that be great, a shopping day/weekend in either of those two cities (Amsterdam is really nice too indeed) with a group of YLF-ladies!! We could do some serious damage!

I believe I've mentioned before that I did meet a group of people I met online...about 3 years ago. It was a fun, and totally out of character thing for me to do. My husband was supportive and he understood the whole thing. I flew from Boston to Bend Oregon, where I met up with a friend, and she and I drove from Bend to San Fran in a few days. We met up with about a dozen other forum members and stayed for the weekend. Then we drove all the way back to Bend in one day. Unfortunately, spending all that time in a car with someone I only knew online put a real damper on the friendship. But it was fun to travel alone (I had never done that before), and I have no regrets. I was definately the one who travelled the farthest though.

If I were ever to do it again, I'd want to bring my whole family. I missed them all terribly and had my first experience of homesickness while there.

Angie are choker length necklaces 'the' flattering length? I have always thought my neck was fat and don't want to draw attention to it. I think the choker length is an attractive length on other people though.

Nicole, I’ve heard you mention this before. Sounds like you had a VERY interesting time!

I’ll throw in London Inge – no language barrier and still one of my favourite cities!

Perhaps the East Coast would be more affordable. Manhattan gets my vote and I’d definitely bring Greg because he created YLF for me and continues to maintain this site so that you lasses can use it in the easiest way.

London is one of my favourite cities of all time too, but I understand that Manhattan would be much easier and more affordable for most of you. Then I'll just have to wait till you report back on the forum about your Great Shopping Outing, because the States are not an option for me right now. Wouldn't mind revisiting New York though, I loved it the first time around!

(Nicole: sounds very exciting but I can imagine that it's not easy to spend so much time with someone you never met in person before)

I'd love to go to Europe, but it's currently out of my budget as well ( and don't get me started on visas Manhattan gets my vote too- can't beet the $30 round trip Chinatown bus! I love shopping there, I did some serious damage in the Uniqlo store last time I was in NY!

I know that we have been joking around with this, but now I seriously want an Annual National YLF Meeting, and New York in the summer sounds like a perfect place for the first one!

Inge, I visit Europe at least once a year, so there is always the possibility of us meeting (and whoever else wants to join us). I shan’t leave you out! I actually leave for Paris tomorrow (husbands post grad MBA reunion), but our schedule is SO chok-a-block that I’m dizzy thinking about it, and of course it’s short notice for you. Next time!

NY is an easy option and you don’t need to twist my arm. I love NY. But not in Summer! I loathe the weather there at that time of year whereas Seattle summers are absolutely perfect. It shall have to be another season (sorry gals).

Of course Inge. Belgium is so close to the Netherlands. It's easy!

After 3 days of reunion activities, I'll probably end up helping my friends shop for themselves. This is usually what ends up happening. But that’s okay because I adore my friends and I don’t get to see that clique of friends often at all. I hope to have a squizz at shoes though. There is always a greater assortment of 1-2 inch heels in Europe. You live in shoe heaven!

I always wonder if I would have an easier time shoe shopping in Europe, since more people commute by foot than here, but then i see pictures of women in Milan and I am just in utter shock. I can't imagine even inserting my foot into one of those shoes let alone walking in them.

Well, if anyone happens to find themselves in NY, I will likely be here for a while to come. Julia, you will find plenty of petite options here. You'll find plenty of everything here. But Angie is right, it does get unbearably hot. The temperatures aren't that bad, but there is a lot of walking, and the subways are absolutely suffocating. Over the years I have developed a number of coping methods: a small spray bottle of lavender water, which is cooling, smells great, and absorbs oil; a hand-held fan...not the electric kind, but just a plain old fashioned fold out fan. Costs around $3 in Chinatown and makes a very cute accessory. Lately I have also been keen on buying a parsol. They look so cute!
