Buy or not? Long black blazer

Same consignment shop as the EF coat in the other post. I 'd been wanting a year round weight longer black blazer to update an old one but wear them casually. This is a light wool Anne Klein. Is it too tight in the midriff? I don't think I'd ever wear it open though, but am unsure of length and fit. The black is hard to see. Does this deserve a place in my wardrobe or should I keep looking? Does it look modern enough? Please be completely blunt. I'm wondering if I even want a black blazer and need advice.

It's fabulous from what I can see but black is so hard to photograph and the details to me are what will make it modern.

It has a low one button stance and is, I hope, a good length...long but not overpowering. I was wearing black jeans.

I am wary of buying a blazer on consignment or ebay for that matter...It is so very easy to get one that lacks style and for some reason dates itself as older...If you just have to have this one, by all means...but Joy, I would think about 4 times and take someone I trust with me to try it on again...Don't want to be a wet blanket but just be careful...

I'm not sure, Joy. Black photographs badly and I can't see the welted pocket placement in front - nor the curve of the hem because of the black pants. I'd need a better photo if possible.

Do you really want black for tops and toppers ? I wouldn't be going in that color direction.

Thank you all for your wisdom. I will see if it is still there tomorrow and look again. Una, I'm pretty sure that it is light weight wool but need to double check.
Crutcher, I will take my DIL and see what she thinks.
Suz,I would get rid of a shorter black blazer with a two button stance, although it isn't bad for my casual life style. It isn't cropped, just a bit shorter and more fitted. I'm not sure that this one will move my style forward. I feel more stylish in a moto jacket or something with a assymetrical hem.
Angie, if I am still thinking about it, I will try to get better photos. I really should be spending money on new, more fluid winter tops and sweaters but seem to not know what I'm looking for or where I want my style to go. What I like always feels like it overwhelms me.
Unfrumped, I realized trying on black that i wasn't sure that I liked that much dark. I like my black jackets best with nonblack bottoms, especially white or light wash jeans. Maybe I should be looking for navy?

It has a nice long, lean look, and the shoulders seem to fit you. I can't tell a lot from the photo, as others have said. One thing that strikes me as possibly dated: the lapel looks like is has a slight curve, under the notch. The ones I've seen recently are straight.

Wow - Joy although it's hard to see details what I can see looks stunning. The "le smoking" feel!! The jacket seems to fit beautifully. You need to assess the details but I think you looking stunning and elegant!! Big thumbs up from me!!

Joy - EA is definitely a style icon to me. The only difference, dear girl, is that she wears higher heels and is a bit more rate. You are have a more refined aesthetic which I personally adore!! I'm a huge blazer, you know you had me at "Long...black blazer" Love!!

I went back and that blazer is gone, so it wasn't meant to be. That's ok. I need to be looking for modern sweaters anyway. Thank you for all who commented. Today there was a black Ted Baker blazer with floral silk lining, but it looked fitted. Are blazers with nipped-in waists too dated?

Well, I loved it, but it *was* hard to see fit in the photo. It made you look very long and lean.

I personally never care about dated or not. It's if it fits my body well or not. (This idea is of course informed by what I see in magazines, etc. in terms of flattering silhouettes)
