BR Site Problems?

A denim shirtdress has been a bit of a HEWI for me, so I was quite taken when I saw Elizabeth P.'s from BR. The Canadian site loaded quite well for me, but I can't get the U.S. site to load for me; I just get that thingy that circles around. Is it because a sale is going on, and they don't want me to save 40%? I've tried refreshing the page but that hasn't done a thing. Any solution?

For comparison, it loads fine for me right now.

I couldn't load BR or Gap in my web browser for months and it turned out it was a problem with my 'cookies' saved from previous visits. Googling showed me that a lot of people had similar problems.

What web browser do you use? If it is Chrome or Safari, try this to check it: open a "new incognito window" (Chrome) or "new private window" (Safari) and visit the Banana Republic site. Incognito/private windows don't have access to any of your browsing history or cookies, so if that's the problem, the site should load fine.

I don't know how to check in other browsers.

If it is the cookies, you can clear them - but beware that doing so will erase any saved logins, like for instance, you'll have to log into youlookfab again. This is frustrating if you visit a lot of different sites that save your login information.

Donna....I just tried and was able to put the dress in my cart. Maybe just a temporary glitch. Try again!

Edit.....I'm using Firefox.

Yes!!!!! Opening the New Private Window on my browser *enabled* me to make this purchase!!! So much for slowing down on my purchases this year. . .But truly, this is the first Petite shirtdress I've ever found.

I have repeated problems with the Gap/BR/Athleta sites in Chrome. Content just won't load properly. No issues ever in Firefox, Safari, or the dreaded IE.

ATLynn, that's exactly what I was facing, too. Clearing the cache fixed it after months of frustration!

WARNING: only do this if you're ok with having to re-log-in to all websites:
In Chrome, you can clear the cache by going to:
Chrome-> Clear browsing data...
and then checking the box for cookies.

Thanks Greyscale! I missed your much more helpful answer than mine before I posted. I'm usually too lazy to bother with clearing my cookies when it's just so easy to just open up firefox instead I have a few sites that I use regularly that just don't play nicely with Chrome.

But, since we're talking about it, if you're willing to put in a little more effort, you can clear cookies for a specific site (so you won't have the inconvenience of losing your other cookies).

Chrome -> Settings -> Show advanced settings -> Content Settings -> All Cookies and Site Data. And then search for your site ( so gap or gap.com or whatever site you want to delete cookies for). The "Remove all" button on this page will change to "Remove all shown" and you can either click that or remove the cookies by domain/subdomain by rolling over them and clicking the "x" to remove it.

All this cookie talk has me craving something sweet. I'm off to dig up a snack.

FWIW, I use Firefox so I didn't have to clear my cookies. I just opened a new private window. The BR site remembered whatever info I gave them in the past.
