BR ankle pant length - YouLookFab Forum

Sorry to post and run, but I'm about to go for a hike! I liked these BR ankle pants enough to order them with a sale code in a size up in P. Here are several possible ankle lengths with my new peep-toe shoes. They are easy to cuff under so I may not even hem them but just cuff for different shoes.

I am hopeless with ankle pants - this is my first pair - so please tell me whether the shoes work and which length is best for what type of shoe. The last of these pics is one leg full length and one just slightly hemmed to fall better with this shoe.

Or do these pants just not work for my body type?

I also ordered the layered sweater in 5. It's heavier than the Trouve and I'm not sure it looks good, so it's going back unless you all disagree.

I suck at ankle pant lengths too but #2 looks best to my eye with those shoes. #1 looks like flood pants to me.
LOVE the pants! I was admiring them online. Now I want to try them. I thought they would be too busy for a petite but they look awesome on you.

I like the length in 2 or 3 with these shoes. I tend to like pants a hair shorter than the ppl sometimes, so 3 is probably the right length.

My eye goes straight to #2 - but I just rely on intuition to get pant lengths right. These look great on you. Sweater is cute too,

I was admiring those pants online as well. I actually like the #1 length best.

The ankle pants look great on you. I'm still trying to work out ideal length myself so will let more experienced Fabbers answer your question. But I remember Angie suggesting that just a sliver of skin show between pants and footwear.

I think you're right about the sliver of skin, Windchime. I was wavering between #2 and #3.

Hmm, I feel like this is quiz time for me...I was just reading a few of Angie's previous posts to figure out a hem/taper alteration. If I recall correctly, she recommends either on the ankle with a self-color shoe, or 4-6 inches above the ankle bone. Both with taper.

I think they look good on you, but I'm wondering if more taper would work better on the higher hem looks. Maybe 1, but slightly higher and more taper? With different shoes to show a sliver of skin, maybe length 3?

I'm no good at this but was thinking of something between 1 and 2. I think Windchime is right, but tha angle of the photo may decide how much skin we are seeing.
The sweater looks good to me but may be a challenge to style. How do you feel wearing it?

I like them with a bit of skin showing and the style looks brilliant on you!

I think you are right to send the sweater back. It looks as if the different layers are somehow mismatched in weight by too great a degree.

#1 and #2 look great. And the footwear is PERFECT with those pants.

I'm on the Joy and Angie end of the spectrum. I love #1 and especially with the shoes. To me, #1 looks intentional.

I like #2 with these shoes. Although I'm by no means an expert... I have a similar question with some ankle pants I just got.

Number 1 hands down I think they look best with a little skin showing. I love the shoes but would like them in a nude color with a lower block heel. I think Steve Madden makes some but only in black ?

I like ##1 and 2 best.
Lucky you - I had to return these pants because they were too tight on the calves - like calf-sucking skinnies. Apparently Sloan fit is not a good fit for big calves

Suz, as usual you nailed it with the sweater.... The top is too heavy for the bottom half. It's going back!

As for the pants, I think I like them with the skin silver too, especially with toes showing. I'm also going to try them at full length with my patent booties for spring weather. Thanks so much! I think these will be a fun addition when styled. I seem to be buying things based on my mixed up hair color!

Sveta, these are a little,loose on my calves but a better fit overall than any ankle pants I've tried, like j crew. Did you try sizing down? They feel like they run big to me.

They were already too sight in the calves - I would not be able to fit them into size down at all!
I hope you keep them so I can enjoy them through you!

What great pants for you Una. Agreeing with the majority (and the plp) on #1 and #2... Slight preference for 2.
And glad you asked, as I am hoping to wear my peep toes with my windowpane sloans soon, now I know how much to roll!

Oops sorry I meant to say size up! And then have them tweaked by your mom? They seem so very you.

Definitely prefer with a sliver or two of skin. Pants and shoes are excellent!

Size up was huge in the hips but not much different in the calves.:-(

So sorry! You look amazing in so much BR stuff. They almost never fit me...

I tried that sweater on in store, too, and didn't like it on me. Something about that bottom layer. The trouvé is on it's way to me too

And YES won't those pants look amazing with your patent booties too!?

Then it is only fair that something fits you so well and does not fit me!

Ha, Angie spoke so I do not need to vote. Love the fit of the pants, though. I agree, the sweater in #5 does look bulky but it still looks fine. Maybe it would be better for fall/winter.

Love the pants and the look, and wear something very much the same myself. I like the pant length somewhere between # 1 & #2.

Great post - I struggle with figuring out what proportions myself as just evidenced my recent what I wore post. My eyes likes 1 and 2 as Angie stated. Looks intentional and the sliver of skin and looks great with those booties and the toes showing.
