Boots for thin legs

I can never find knee high boots that come close to fitting. Every boot I try on looks like I have a pair of fishing waders on - tons of gaping space at the top. Any ideas? I bought a pair of flat riding boots last year and I look stupid in them, even with jeans tucked in. I wonder if a good shoe repair could "take them in" for me.

What's the circumference of your calves? I can relate, mine are 12.5 or so and I have yet to find boots narrow enough to wear with leggings or skirts, what I found is that slouch boots work for me better - they slouch so don't have to be exactly fitted. But knee high boots, no luck here. I know though that some of the high-end brands are great for narrow calf, but I don't know which ones.... I'm sure others will chime in!

Beebe -- you're in such good company here. We have had a zillion threads on this extremely frustrating issue. Try searching skinny calf or calves and narrow calf or calves and you'll find tons of suggestions, commiseration, and -- unfortunately -- heartbreak. It seems to be one of the hardest things to find in a reasonable price range.

Ok, I actually measured my calves. 11 1/2 inches !!! skinny minny.

I have a question about the leather boots with the elastic back. Doesn't it look
funny when you have jeans or pants tucked in and the pant fabric gets crunched up
and it shows under the back elastic ?

If you have a shoe repair shop or cobbler in your area, they can *easily* take up your boots. That's what my sister has done. I've wondered if an upholstery shop could do it too.

Stuart Weitzman makes pretty skinny boots, but they are expensive. I have 2 pairs, both of which I got on sale (you can see one pair in another thread I just posted). They are 12" with stretch fabric backing and adjustable buckles at the top. I guess they do scrunch a bit at the ankles, but after trying on another pair of boots that don't, I am not bothered by it. They would scrunch even if they were leather all the way around, and I learned that without scrunch, I can't walk properly. The boots I tried recently that were stiff and structured through the ankle were really uncomfortable.

I'm afraid I have no more constructive advice. It's easier for me because I'm at the wide end of narrow (13"), but it's still very, very hard, and only gets harder as your calves get smaller

I have 12 1/4" to 12 1/2" calves and recently got some flat riding boots through Amazon. They said 14" in circumference but I found they actually touched my bare calves all the way around so much closer to 13" in real life. There is a stretch part of the gore that still allows room for pants or leggings, etc. They are very simple boots (which is what I was looking for) with no adornments. http://www.amazon.com/Santana-.....038;sr=8-7

Have you every tried lace up boots? Miz Mooz has some boots that lace up from the bottom to the top not just for looks. My friend had the same problem and she likes them. She can make them as tight as she wants.

Hey fellow slim-calfed ladies!

My calves measure 11.5" (!) & I'm 5' 6.5", so finding good knee-high, calf-hugging boots has been like the most impossible game of where's Waldo! Lol. I just came across this brand called Poppy & Barley that makes boots custom for your calf size. They run at about $450, so pricey but most likely worth it given the struggle to find something that fits properly.

The leather seems like it's pretty good quality. Personally, I'm not crazy about the logo being stamped into the leather near the heel, nor am I smitten with the exposed stacked wooden heel on the heeled versions; I also think the (color of the) soles for the flat boots work for some styles but not others. The pluses: nice classic styles & customizable calf widths.

But anyway, just wanted to alert you ladies of this new find. Please message me if you do order it. I'd love to hear how it fits!

Thanks for the link, em2014! I have 12" calves, and yes, it's impossible to find knee-high boots. I had heard of Duo being a company that makes custom boots, but I didn't know about Poppy and Barley. I like the more classic styles of Poppy and Barley. Yes, they're expensive, but it's not crazy expensive. It's about what I would be willing to pay for a good-quality custom boot.

Do you think the boots are comfortable? Is there much cushioning inside? Do they keep your feet and legs warm?

Aquatalia boots are the only brand that really fit me perfectly. They are pricy but they are water proof and will last a long time.

Hi Gigi! Unfortunately, I can't comment on the quality/comfort/etc because I haven't bought a pair yet as it's not in my budget, but when I do I'll let you know. Honestly, I'm kind of hoping that a petite blogger will buy & review it, & I will wear it vicariously through them until I can afford my own!

From bopping about around the web, it seems that the brand, Aquatalia, is of good quality. A common complaint is that they're too narrow in the calf--so what regular-calf-sized-ladies deem an issue may be a boon for us! This and this blogger did a review on their boots.

As for Duo, yes, I've heard of them, too! However, it seems like reviews are mixed so I won't be ordering from them.

Oh yeah. I got me some toothpicks. And I've decided I'd like some over the knee boots. I don't have high hopes. I'm thinking I'll have to save my pennies. My knee boots cost and took a long search. They have buckles at the top...

I have narrow calves, I purchase Stuart Weitzman, Aquatalia, and I have some 3/4 boots snug in the ankle and calf from AGL. All expensive brands. I haven't tried scrunch boots. I have tried boots with elastic gores in back and I am not bothered by the look when I tuck jeans. I am tall, not petite, around 5'9".
