As a short person (5'2") I'd been avoiding booties the last few years. This weekend I saw some in Target and tried them on – the Ruthie bootie – and didn't immediately hate them. I left the tag on for a bit at home while I tried them on with several different pairs of jeans and dresses/skirts (that's why it's still on in the pic), but eventually took it off – and ordered another pair of these in black from the website, even!

However, I'm hoping I'm not completely deluding myself into thinking these work... I think I would need to roll jeans up a bit more than this when wearing them (and actually mentioned that in another person's post). I think they would also work well with transitioning some of my maxi skirts/dresses into fall outfits.

Why would you avoid booties as a short person? Flat booties may be harder to style, but my heeled booties have added height and versatility to my closet. And with pants at regular length they can look like shoes - unless you avoid high vamps.

hahah, thanks alaska! I think I avoided them in part because I can't really do heels anymore for that long, even some short ones. I hadn't found any other flat ones I liked until now too. But these seem really versatile, functional, and comfy, and the fringe is up my alley style-wise.

Missey, I laughed at the first part of your reply As soon as I tried them on and realized they were probably going to work, I wondered out loud if they had them in black, then I checked online when I was home and lo and behold they did. Instantly ordered.

I am 5'2" also, and I wear booties. But all of mine have heels (high heels) on them. I think that maybe subconsciously I have always felt that flat booties would read too heavy on my small frame. Is that what you have felt?

I think the jeans rolls look great. Some forum members like there to be just a sliver of skin between the roll and the bootie, so you could experiment with that too.

They look comfy. I hope the black works out as well as the brown!

Welcome to bootie land! They are addictive once you've tried them! They are super cute.

Gigi, you hit the nail on the head The few times beforehand that I've tried them, they definitely felt clunky, especially those without heels.
Earlier today I saw someone else's post asking about jean length, and I think higher will work better for me too!

I completely understand your reservations- I'm even shorter than you (5'1) and it took me quite awhile to warm up to the idea of booties. But in the right combination, I think they look great, even on us shorties.I now have 4 or 5 pairs! I do wear all of mine with heels, to steal a bit of height, and I roll up the pant leg so that some skin is showing.

What? I've never felt that booties were off limits for any height. I'm 5'0" and have been enjoying booties very much the last few years.

Thanks Marie and Julie! Hearing from others helps me shed some of those reservations. You wouldn't believe how long it took me to muster up the courage to try out skinny jeans... It takes me a bit to get out of my comfort zones sometimes

I love booties. I'm in the architecture field and booties are perfect for wearing when touring construction job sites but still feeling like I'm dressed stylishly. I've always worn them under boot-cut pants in the past.... I'm now trying to push myself and show them off with ankle skinny pants and skirts.

Shame on you...I wasn't supposed to be pushing the magic button but these babes are just way cute...Definitely wear booties...these would be perfect...I havn't met a boot I didn't like on some level and these just tweak my fancy...

A perfect example of why we should try things on despite the voices in our head saying that doesn't work for a petite...the clunky thing is something I too felt upon getting my first ones, but after wearing them and seeing the photo proof, I really grew to love them..
So great that you went for it and succeeded... Have fun styling both these and the black ones!!!! I have ones in both shades myself!
