I've just read The Perfect Affair by Claire Dyer. A well considered and easy read, thoughtfully constructed. Claire came to the book group, and it was interesting to hear it discussed. I would add that having read the book, I think there should be a sub-title identifying that the marriages end honourably! Heartwarming, not corny!
For a classic, Truman Capote Breakfast at Tiffany's, short, delicious and engaging. I fell in love with Holly.
I just finished 1984 by George Orwell and I'm ready for a heartwarming book, too. I suggest reading a book about India that I really liked called Behind the Beautiful Forevers written by Katherine Boo.
I just finished Eligible, based on someone's recommendation from here. It is a re-telling of Pride and Prejudice, set in today's time. So funny and entertaining to read Jane Austin style language describing modern situations. It kept me interested the whole time, even though I basically knew the plot.
This is an oldie but a goodie, "The Shell Seekers" by Rosamunde Pilcher. Set in England, def. heartwarming, long enough to keep your interest for several days. I loved it and have read it several times.
Old old book: Fabulous Nobodies. About a girl who loves her frocks more than people and the dream of the Chanel suit. Lol! Fun, not uninsightful, fashion-oriented read.
