Body type help please...

I'm about 94-68-98 cm or 37-27-38,5 in inches and 1,74 m i.e. 5 foot 8.5 inches.

I figure I'm in the pear / hourglass category, with an annoyingly big difference between hips and waist, and long-waisted.

What do you think ?

It's a bit difficult to tell exactly because of the way you are standing, but I would say you have described yourself to perfection! Somewhere between a slim hourglass/ pretty pear. It's tough to say if you're actually long waisted but you do have a lovely willowy shape. Welcome!

BTW, I know it's annoying for fit reasons to have a big difference between waist and hip, but it's a lovely shape and you can be proud of it!

I think you've already figured it out. I also see hourglass/pear.

You and I actually have a fairly similar build, if I could stretch out my short waist a few inches and lose about 10lbs.

Suz, yes most of my trousers need to get waist alterations, otherwise they gape. Definitely no boyish-fit for me.

Janet, cool, I'm always looking for fit-twins so I can try out their outfit ideas.

I snapped some more shots in stretchy clothes for the sake of getting a cleaner silhouette outline (while standing straight!).

You definitely look like a pretty pear to me with secondary hourglass shape.

Welcome to the forum alice.
I tend to rely on the back view to judge body shape. Yours shows shoulders the same width as your hips, so that makes you a classic hourglass in my book. Your shoulders look too broad for you to be a pear.
Have you checked out Inside Out style? Imogen is very instructive on body shapes too.

I am a definite pear and my shoulders are narrower than my hips. I think you are hourglass. Just my opinion, I agree Imogen mentioned above gives a very good summary of body shapes. Angie has also recently written very good articles on body shape.

Hi Lantana and KMRW, thanks for the welcome and for replying. I also read Imogen's site, and along with Angie's posts on body shape, that's mostly what has helped me get inkling on which "fruit" I likely am. But it's useful to get an outside opinion, so I'm glad to get your impressions.

Hourglass vote from a fellow hourglass. My waist and hip measurements are the same as yours. I think in the last few years, mainstream retailers have gotten much better at including us in their sizing. I'm having luck buying pants and jeans from Eddie Bauer (curvy fit), LOFT (Julie fit), Levi's (bold curve), Ann Taylor (curvy fit), and Banana Republic (Martin fit).

Milehighstyle, thanks for sharing your list! I remember being curious about the Levi's "curve" fits, without going so far as to try them.
