Hi everyone-

I think I know which body type I am (not 100% sure), but I'm uploading a couple photos to see what you think.

I don't know my measurements, but I'm 5' 8 1/2" tall and when I gain weight it is always in my tummy area.

If it weren't for the supportive and positive vibe of the forum, there is no way I'd be posting photos of myself for people to scrutinize. Of course, no face in these, but maybe next time... baby steps!!

You have a terrific figure, first of all! Secondly, you look like a slim hourglass/ rectangle. But I could be mistaken about that.

Congratulations on posting a picture of yourself! If you look far enough back in the archives you can see my first terrified posting too -- it takes a lot of bravery, and you should definitely proceed at the pace that makes you comfortable.

I see an hourglass; your loose shirt is throwing me off a bit, you may have rectangle-like attributes too. You have lovely long, lean legs!

You look like a slim hourglass to me, and I can also see slight rectangle tendencies. You have such a graceful, light figure! Congratulations on finding the courage to post.

Do you have a high hip? It's a bit difficult to tell with your loose-fitting top.

I had never heard of slim hourglass before I posted here, but that is what seems to be the best fit with rectangle second. I'm learning new things already.

I'm not exactly sure about the high hip, but I do have a short torso. I'm over 5'8" tall and when i sit next to a friend who is 5'3" tall in a restaurant booth we are the same height.

I'm a body shape expert. I've been helping women with this for years. In truth though, it is almost impossible to tell in your photos. You definitely have the long legged type body. In order to figure out if you are an hourglass or rectangle, we'd need to be able to see if you have a defined waist? and how much smaller it is than your hips? In general, do you like belting things at the waist?
I'm not sure why you'd be embarrassed to post photos. You do have a desirable shape and you should learn to love it!
Once you figure out what shape you are, try getting some inspiration for style from somewhere like http://www.fitvalet.com
We know shape REALLY well.

REFINING ONESELF

Hi and welcome. I posted recently and I empathize with the feeling of being in scary territory. I was warmly received and I know you will be also. I do think you need to put on somethings that is "tight" so the others can see relationship of waist, hips etc, Now that you have uploaded the first photos the second are easier. I am printing out my guidelines for my body shape so I can internalize then when i go out shopping. Please continue to come back and post. This is a wonderful supportive community.
