Hello! Im so happy i found this forum and i can asked you my question.
In the last peroid of time a few people told me im an hourglass uncluding shop kippers that said i have "the perfect body" . When i look at the mirror i can see a clear hourglass. I also measured myself and used many body type collectors online.
Today at work, i was very surprised to hear one worker who said that im a pear. After she said it, 2 other women said shes wrong and im an hourglass .
My bust is : 33.4 my waist is 24 and hips are 36 .. Can you tell me ? Im pretty sure im not a pear, my shoulders(36) are equal to my hips(36) . Here are pictures:

Yes, this time the link works. I think that you are definitely a hourglass based on your photos. Your shoulders look to be the same width as your hips amd you have a very defined waist.

good to hear that.
but my bust is smaller than my hips so i dont get it .
some people say the bust should be the same as the hip and some say the shoulders should..

I would also say you are an hourglass. You have a very tiny waist!

I think that the way the body shapes are defined is somewhat subjective. On this forum, we normally go by what the front view looks like, whether the shoulders roughly appear to be the same width as the hips. We don't take into account the bust measurement.

Agree, more hourglass than pear. But because you have hips it might be worth looking at pear recommendations for pants, in my experience there is a LOT of cross between body types.

I see. So to dress for hourglass shape? Pear have large hips.. I dont have large hips.. I mean i can go with high waisted pants right?..

MJ, I think that whether you can wear high-waisted pants might depend more on how long your torso is rather than on your body shape. One way to determine this is to take your total height and divide by 8. Then the parts of your body can be divided up as follows:

Head: 1/8 of total height
Bottom of chin to smallest part of waist: 2/8 of height
Smallest part of waist to bottom of crotch: 1/8 of height
Bottom of crotch to knee: 2/8 of height
Knee to bottom of foot: 2/8 of height

If your torso measurement is significantly larger or smaller than 2/8 of your total height, you can be considered long waisted or short waisted (i.e., as having a long torso or a short torso). If your torso is short, you may have a hard time wearing high-waisted pants without looking a little frumpy. If you are short waisted, lower-rise pants generally look better because they give the illusion of a longer torso.

she is known by her hourglass shape but her bast is smaller then her hips .. she has a similar shpe to me.

Hourglass "X" not "8" type with a long slim torso.

Don't worry, you're not a pear. Pears have narrow shoulders and wide hips.

I also think you are a slim hourglass....you have a great shape and lots of clothes will suit you.

But there is nothing wrong with being a pear...guys also look at them....

Hi!

I like Trinny and Susannah body classifications better. I think everyone wants to classify as an hourglass, and in every blog I see a lot of women claiming to be one of them. You don't have to be an hourglass so guys could look at you, that's one of the dumbest things I've heard! (sorry, but I had to say it!).

You're not a pear, that's for sure, because of you broad shoulders.

To me, you look more like the skittle body shape. This is the same body shape as Halle Berry. You're in proportion because of your small waist and broad shoulders, but your lower half is a little bit heavier in comparison. You're skinny so it doesn't show that much, but I can still see that your lower legs are heavier, you don't have skinny lower legs. Hourglasses have broad shoulders, large boobs, small waist, broad hips and thinner lower legs.

Characteristics of a Skittle body shape:

Average tits
Slim waist
Big thighs
Chunky calves

There is NOTHING wrong with having a certain body shape that isn't an hourglass, all of them are beautiful! So stop insisting and thinking only that way you can be attractive! The important thing is that you feel good about how you look, shapes don't matter that much.

Im an hourglass. you can see everyone here told me that and in everyday life people also say it to me. and what are you talking about? I do have very skinny lower legs .
also in every shape colculator i got hourglass shape..

I looked up what she's talking about and they had a calculator to determine on 12 shapes rather than 5. It said you are a pear. Also from the front view your shoulders aren't quite as wide as your hips. They're the same measurement so you say so you might have a smaller bottom which is why your hips are the same size as your shoulder but are still wider. But this is a good reason to say you're a skittle because skittles have smaller butts. But you seem to have what are called saddlebags the thing that curves out from the legs like a pear does you could also be a bell as you seem to have long legs but you're within the pear family.

I did your measurements in body shape calculators most say you're a pear except 1.

I did many calculators, and they all said exept from one that im an hourglass. And u can see all the people here comment that im hourglass. Also many people in real life tell me this. My shoulders are 90 cm and my hips are 90 cm. my waist is 58. Im hourglass. I wrote this post a long time ago, when i didnt know im an hourglass so its not relevant .

I am an hourglass and could not wear those pants since I am short from the shoulder to the waist. They would come up to my bra.

You are whatever shape you think is beautiful. If that shape is hourglass, then your measurements make you a perfect hourglass.

I ran your measurements through all the calculators and most said peArs about 5 out of 9.

I'll probably add more as time goes on.

But another point should be made you hold most of your weight on your lower half which is a pear characteristic not hourglass.

Some people confuse pears with hourglasses I have no clue why this is but it happens a lot.

I can only see the very top of your hips. And you have low hips so it's hard to judge in that pic because you cut your thighs and hips out...

I'm a little late to the party, but I want to go ahead and add my 2 cents if you don't mind. It may be the angle of the photos, but your shoulders look a little wider than your hips. You may be an hourglass with broad shoulders or an IT with a more defined waist. Majority of people tend to be a combination of body types- we're all too unique to fall neatly into 5, or even 12, categories.

And body shape calculators aren't always accurate. I came across this blog while trying to figure out my own body shape, and she makes a REALLY good point about those calculators. A good example: pears have wider hips than shoulders, waist, or bust; however, wide hips isn't the same as having a big butt. You can have a pear and an IT with the same hip measurements because the IT has a booty.

I want to point out that not being an hourglass doesn't mean you aren't pretty. When people suggested you were other shapes, you seemed reluctant to the idea of being anything else. Western society pushes hourglass figures as being the ideal, but beautiful women come in every shape. Most celebrities men drool over aren't hourglasses at all: Kate Upton's an apple, Iggy Azalea and Beyonce are pears, Candice Swanepoel's a rectangle, etc. Don't get hung up in having to be a certain body type.

You look great, hourglass or not.
