Boden clams don't fit; Angie was right

"Angie was right" -- I suppose that's redundant.

My Boden clamdiggers arrived today and they are indeed too large. By a lot. If you missed the original thread, the question was whether Boden's size 8 was the equivalent of a 0 or a 2. (Their website claims it's both, but come now.)

Maya felt that Boden is generally cut for pretty pears, and Angie said she guaranteed the 8s would be too big. You're both right. So, ladies -- what's it like to be perfect? ;)

But boo hoo, now I have no clamdiggers. And the denim on these was sooooo nice and soft...

I think they could work on a pear shaped 0 (few people acknowledge they exist, but they do). My size 8 Boden jeans are a so-so fit. Not really ideal but I just live with it because I don't have any other high waisted bootcut jeans and I can't afford new ones. The fact that I take a size 8 at Boden makes me realize just how big they must have been on you April!

If my Cheap Monday jeans fit you (crossing fingers), maybe you can just buy another pair and have them hemmed. Now that I have seen you I'm afraid they might still be too big for you since you're so dainty!

I'm sorry to hear that April, it's so hard to let go of soft denim;-)

Oy, April, sorry to hear that! Actually, I believe Boden's sizes are usually "US+4", that is, a size 8 in Boden is more close to 4 US. This is at least what happens with me, but I am a much larger size than you (10 US, and wear 14 in Boden)

Thanks for the advice. I was going to order some of those Boden clamdiggers. Now I will feel better about trying to size them correctly.

Yes, I think Hannah is right on when she says U.S. size plus 4, since the 10s were great on me and I'm a 6.

Sorry they didn't work :(

Sorry the clamdiggers didn't work out for you. This makes me a little nervous, since I was planning on ordering a skirt from boden this weekend, and I'm closer to a size 2 than a size 4 on the bottom. Maybe I shouldn't risk it, but gosh, the Jacquard skirt sure is pretty.

April, got any ideas for where you're going to search next? Your perfect clams must be somewhere!

I am a size 2 on the bottom and size 4 middle and top. Boden's jeans were perfect for me around the hips but snug around the waist. I don't know if that information helps anyone or not but it was my experience.

Mai -- I do have a couple of thoughts. One is to take Maya's suggestion that I take the Cheap Monday skinnies she sent me and have them hemmed to clam length. (They have to be hemmed anyway, so this would be simple.)

Two would be to try these: http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/.....pid=634153 Main advantage: cheap. Main disadvantage: I prefer the look of traditional pockets, though I know flap pockets are okay when you suffer from BDD (Booty Deficit Disorder).

Three would be to go to Shiny's thread about the three pairs of clams she tried and try any or all of those.

Anyone have other suggestions?

Boden's web site has garment measurements for most of their pieces. It specifically lists the waist circumference, hip circumference, etc, so you could compare to clothes you already have that fit.

From what I've seen - I just ordered a bunch of their stuff - the measurements are pretty close to what showed up on the mail. Has anyone else done this comparison? Did you find their numbers accurate?
