Blue dress...... looking like my grandmother?

Hi girls, I have been away for a while, but back to show you this dress.
For me it proves that I haven't got a clue what to look for. Clothes on hangers in shops just confuse me.
Luckily I had a friend with me, who can style like Angie and she picked out this dress. I thought I would look like my grandmother in it. Of course I tried it on (didn't want to insult her by dismissing it right away). To my big surprise I really liked it.
It has a little stringbelt which I pulled a little too high up in these pictures. The skirt should really be two inches lower to my taste. Fortunately I can achieve that by losening the belt.
The shoes are butter soft, but difficult to wear for a long time as the straps on the heel keep sliding down, making it difficult to carry the heavy heel with just your forefoot. Any suggestions?

No suggestions for the shoes. I usually avoid slingbacks like the plague You look gorgeous in this dress, though. Good call from your Angie-like friend. If only we all had an Angie in our back pocket to shop with!

Sorry about the shoes. I avoid sling backs for that reason, actually. Perhaps try a heel grip, cut to size.

The dress is lovely on you. Both color and shape are right. As to the shoes, I am the opposite in that sling backs work well for me but closed heels often slip off. Perhaps putting an insert in the toe area would snug them up just enough to fix the problem. One of those gel things with the added benefit of making it more comfortable.

You look lovely and those are certainly not your grandmother's shoes. My thoughts for the straps were the same as Angie's. They sell gel stick-on heel grips that may keep them in place. is the strap adjustable with s buckle? If so, maybe holes could be added so that they can be worn more snugly. A cobbler may have ideas. The shoes are beautiful.

The dress looks smashing -- great color and fit. Sorry about the shoes, I can't wear that style either. Maybe a different style in the same color? Just a nice plain leather pump might be good, and wouldn't compete with the print.

I think the dress is great on you! I see nothing grandmother-ish. The shoes are fab too, but the pulling sounds annoying -- maybe the heel grip idea will help?

Oh this dress is absolutely gorgeous on you. The print is eye catching and original in a very elegant way, but can see that the dress itself might not look impressive on a hanger. So glad you bought it! As to the shoes--might some of that double-sided fashion tape work, or are the heels too heavy? I have similar trouble with sling backs, which is why I'm glad some brilliant designer came up with ankle straps!

Great dress! I love the shoes too. Sorry about the sling back problem. I'm weird in that I actually find them better than regular closed pumps for staying on my particular feet, but even so I have to make sure the sling is tight enough. I wonder if a cobbler could add an elastic insert to the strap to tighten it up a bit.

The dress is beautiful with your coloring and looks fresh and fun to wear in addition to being flattering.

I find prints are so individual in terms of love/hate but I like this one in general and *love* the harmony you in it creates!

I see no issues with the length, so loosen or tighten that drawstring as the mood strikes.

Re slingbacks -- as others have said, gel strips on the back are your best bet. I had some slingbacks shortened by my shoe repair person one but they just made the shoes LESS comfortable...and didn't fix the slippage.

Love the shape of the dress on you. The look is very fresh. Good luck with the sling backs - I think something that it is peel and stick may help. Moleskin comes that way; it is soft and can be cut to size. I have no look with sling backs, do I can't vouch for this approach.

What a lovely dress, and how well it suits you. You certainly don't look like my granny! I have this problem with slingback, too, and avoid them (although I love the look of them). But perhaps one of the suggestions here may help.

Re: the shoes, they make strap grips (like little skinny heel grips, but for straps). They have them at DSW shoes. I just saw them there yesterday...didn't know they existed!

The colors in tgat dress look fantastic on you. The slight high- low helps make the shorter length more wearable. If you're still sensitive about it then a lower heel, maybe? Although some kind of cream pump looks fab, as you have there.

Sling backs are very comfortable for me, so I don't have any tips to make the shoes stay on your feet....but I hope some suggestions above will solve that problem. YLF!

Thank you very much ladies. I will try all solutions. Filling up the front (the toe) with grip gel soles. And I have already applied a little gel band to the strap. It sometimes works. I am sure it is going to work. They don't have a clasp and they alreay have a little elastic band in them.
