Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

Beginner feedback please

As suggested in another post, I took a couple of photos of my outfits this morning. Please ignore the wet hair, I had just gotten out of the shower. ;)

I'm not wearing any shoes in these either, oops! May have to get DH to take the photos, cause I think the angled mirror and my arm in the air is changing things a bit.

I like the second outfit with the white jacket. Both outfits might look better with a longer top under the jackets. The brown jacket would look nice with a more colorful top. I do really like the way both jackets fit you though. They are both cute too! So what shoes would you be wearing?

Thanks Shannon!

I'm afraid I'd rather un-stylish with my shoe choices, I go for comfort first. I would probably wear these:

That said, I'm hoping to get a couple new pairs of shoes this summer (I was thinking of a pair of flats and a pair of sandals) so suggestions are welcome!

Do you have any foot issues, Ola? I know of a couple of nice flats that would work well for summer. I have my eye on these:

These are nice too (they ran out of my size):

I've heard good things about this one as well:

I would take a pass on the tennis shoes, and I agree with Shannon's suggestions as well.

Should the top be longer than the jacket, or just longer than it currently is? Maybe these are shorter on me because I'm tall, I'm not sure, but I will check some stores this weekend to see if I can find some that are better.

With the flats, since I'm only planning to get one pair, I want them to be versatile, you know? I'm not very adventurous in the shoe department but I don't want to be too boring. Would dark coloured flats be too warm for the summer? You don't wear socks with them, right? Do they get sweaty? I know, so many questions!

How about a pair like this?

(I have a weak spot for red :D or maybe the dark brown?)

Or something with more colour, but could I wear it with a lot of different things?

And I've been reading posts about animal/giraffe prints, which look cute:

Have I mentioned I'm indecisive? I definitely think nicer shoes will smarten up the whole look, so I think I'll put those at the top of the list.

First, I think your clothes fit you well, and you have a good basic outline going on. You just need to take it up a notch with color and accessories. I'm a big fan of necklaces, and think they can make a blah outfit look a thousand times better. You don't need alot of them either. The first outfit with the olive jacket is a great cut and fit--but it would look even better with a colorful top. Citron and olive work really well together (Ana has a great photo of that combo). Red does too.

As for the shoes...I think the first pair look wintery because of the quilting. That could just be my perspective though. I love the second pair--and they would go with a lot of different looks. I like the last pair--you can never go wrong with animal print, so long as you keep it to one piece per outfit.

Edit: Pass on the sneaker style shoes you posted from Famous Footwear. They will really detract from your overall polished look.

Thanks for posting pics Ola. I have few questions:
o are you wearing the same jeans in both pictures?
o what brand and cut are you wearing?

Hi Angie. It is the same jeans in both pictures. They're a flared style from Bluenotes, which is a jeans store here, not sure if they are in the US too.

Nicole, I will have a look around in some local stores, probably this weekend, to see what's available. Sounds like a more colourful pair like the second one I posted would go with many different outfits, so I'll see if I can find something similar. The sneakers I already have, but they're good for a lot of walking (gotta love gel insoles!) so I'm sure I'll still wear them on more casual/sporty outings.

Oh, I almost forgot. I wanted to ask about necklace suggestions too - what do you think?

I would totally go for the second pair of shoes. They are fun, summery and would go with a lot. I'm not a fan of animal print myself. They last pair aren't bad, but still seem more of a cold weather shoe to me.

The shirt should stick out at the bottom of your jacket.
