Here is one of the outfits from my "big" shopping spree earlier in the summer, with the skirt shortened, and also with a belt for more waist definition. After having the skirt shortened, I now wonder if the top is too long to wear with a skirt, even belted.

I'm interested to hear your opinions on the top length, and also on the overall outfit. CRS and all other comments welcome.

P.S. Never mind the horrible surgical shoe in the picture! It's not meant to be a fashion statement.

First of all...your hair looks great! I love the little flips! (of course I do...)

The skirt is perfect! I'm not sure about the shirt length though. I tend to think it works just fine. Style wise it's perfect with that skirt. If you're overly conscious of the length, could you try scrunching it up and over the belt--a little bit of a blouson effect?

So what's up with your foot?

Ack! I still have my surgical shoe hidden somewhere out of sight. What happened to your foot? More bunion surgery?

I don't mind the shirt length when belted. The belt cuts it off at a good length. It's a very light and springy look and very cute and feminine. Probably one of my favorites that you have posted so far! I'm sure it will look even nicer when you don't have that clobbermeister on your foot.

BTW I think you own that blue color. It looks amazing on you.

Ah, thank you, ladies. You've put my mind at ease about the top length. I guess I'm just paranoid...

Actually, the foot isn't bad at all. I had surgery for a tailor's bunion (outside of the foot) 9 years ago. The metal pin which was put in at that time had come to the surface (well, it was poking up, anyway) and I had it removed. I am recovering nicely and should get my stitches out and get rid of the dreadful surgical shoe on Friday. I have high hopes that if I am extra-picky about shoe width and fit, perhaps I won't have to have the other foot done. *fingers crossed*

Nicole, I looked at options for blousing the top out a bit more, but this top has buttons that really stick out and the belt can only be placed between buttons, so where I have it belted is really the only option.

In the past when I had shirts like this, I never knew how to make them look better. I felt something was missing, but I didn't know what or how to fix it. After seeing so many successful belted looks on this forum, I'm definitely inspired to try something like this.

Thanks for all your compliments, ladies. I'm glad my worries were unfounded. Anne and Lena, this is just about the *first* time I have ever belted a top. Of course, I was inspired by YLF and I have a feeling it'll be a look I go for many times in the future.

Becky, way to go with the belted top! You look great! I love the haircut and your specs (has your family warmed to them yet?). I empathize with you on your foot...I had a bunion removed in January and am still healing. Hope your feet feel better soon!
