Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

Be honest - does this dress look like it would be too young for me?

I'm hunting for summer day dresses, and I want to depart from my usual style (which is pretty nondescript). I've always liked boho elements, and I'd like my casual, non-work style to say: natural, relaxed, open, and creative. In any case, i have my eye on this dress, but I'm worried that it looks too young for me. I'm going to be 30 in August. What's your honest opinion?

Absolutely not! 30 is still so young, and it's the new 20 and stuff :p

If I have to give up UO after 29 I will cry :(

However I should warn you: I haven't had much luck with Kimchi and Blue dresses. They are just not made for anyone bigger than a C cup. This one might be different but it seems to be a common issue for the big-of-bust judging from the reviews I have read in the past. Give it a try though. The ones I tried were all sweater dresses with this horrible elastic band in the empire waist that I sort of ripped when I went to try it on in the fitting room =\ Maybe a jersey dress will have more stretch.

So much just depends on your body, how you wear it, etc. I think it's kind of short (but that's just my own neurosis coming into play). Can you get to a store to try it on and take a pic?

Oh, chewyspaghetti reminded me: Since you are petite I don't think the length is going to be as short as it is on the model, but now that I see what the actual 33" measurement, it might still be a bit too short. On 5'2 me, 35" would hit just above the knee.

It would still be great over leggings though. I'm actually tempted to try it, even though past experience tells me not to...

NO, not too young for a 30 year old.

Christine, trust me. There will come a day when the thought that you once questioned whether that dress was "too young for you" at 29 will make you go BWAH HA HA HA...

That is a very cute dress. It reminds me of a brand a local store here carries called Zachary's Smile. I don't think it's too young for you at all. Give it a shot and see what you think. It's a perfect style to wear with leggings.

All right, I'm glad it doesn't look too young. I suspect, Maya, that you're right, and that it won't fit through the top and that it may be too short also. I'm not much for leggings, so if it's really too short, I'll return it. My favorite part of my body is my legs, but I don't like anything that's too far above the knee. We'll see. I'm going to order it. I'll post pictures once I get it.

I'm interested to hear your report. If it works for you I might give K&B another chance.

It doesn't look too young though the length might be a tad short. However, nothing that a solid pair of leggings probably can't address. Looking forward to the photos.
