Hello from Paris

I passed by a BR store at the Champs Elysees today but didn't go in because I have no idea about their stuff. If you have shopped from there, I would love some advice. How are they quality wise? What are some of your favourite clothing items to buy from there? And what would you recommend for me?

Kirt, BR is owned by the same company as the Gap and Old Navy, and is supposed to a bit higher quality than Gap. I have a bunch of their pants, some tees, some button downs, and some sweaters from them. You should definitely check it out - they've got good stuff, pretty high quality and the prices are generally reasonable. Have fun! Bonne chance.

I know GAP stock in Europe is different from what we get in North America. Is this true for BR too? I find BR to be a little dressier and a little more business wear than gap. Some of their trousers have been well reviewed around here.

I have bought a few things from them in the past couple of years. I've bought a skirt and several tops, and a sweater that I can think of off the top of my head. I'm really happy with everything I have from them.

Their quality has varied, but it is generally a bit better than Gap. Some items (Mad Men Collection and BR Heritage) rival JCrew in my opinion. There is a lot of turnover but they also have styles they redo each season. I would rarely pay full price, but if on sale it's a good value and most of my pieces have lasted well.

I do have several items from BR, going back several seasons. Everything I own is still looking pristine. I think their overall quality is good. They do a lot of silk cotton blend tops and blouses. Those are usually of excellent quality. Just like Joanne, I do not pay full price.

Ditto everything Zapotee and Jeanne say. I own quite a few BR pieces; they are good for simple basics (when on sale) and the odd fun seasonal piece (also on sale). In fact, I just placed an order from them today. We do not have a bricks and mortar BR in my city but they offer free delivery and returns, which is very unusual here in Canada, so I figure it is low risk to order and try on.

I am not always in love with the colours offered or the particular styles, but when I find something that i like, I generally like it a lot, and it lasts well.

I used to haunt BR all the time and bought most of my work clothes there a few years back. They do a lot of seasonal collections but worth checking out for trousers and interesting tops. Higher quality than an H&M for sure but more $ too. Maybe they have a clearance or sales going on - you can find good deals usually.
