After my other thread on statement bags, I thought it would be fun to make a game. Let's suppose you have an unlimited amount of money to spend on handbags. You want to buy three in the following categories (to support Angie's rule that a statement bag does not need to need to cost a lot of money):

1. $1000 +
2. $100 - $1000
3. < $100

Rules:
1. Please include pictures
2. You don't have to find a bag for each category if you don't want to
3. It's okay if you already own the bag or intend to buy it

Fun! Do you mean that with an unlimited budget, you'd purchase 3 bags all for less than $100? Just want to make sure I understand the question before I post an answer.

Sorry for the confusion. No, I mean you can purchase up to 3 bags, one in each category. Is that clearer? I'm still thinking on the other two categories.

I think this is fun! I have a question about the "rules." If I were going to spend money on a bag in category 1 or 2 I would want something I could get a lot of use out of so my bags aren't necessarily "show stoppers" but really nice quality bags in neutral colors. I tend to buy statement bags for under $100 or $150 so I can dispose of them when I'm tired of that look. Does that still count?

If I have a limitless amount of money to spend, then there is no doubt that I would buy a birkin bag from Hermes. I'll get back to you on the rest!

Dani, you can pick whatever you want. The idea is to choose what you would use right now. Let's forget about the future and pretend that you have unlimited funds so that pretend buying a $1000+ bag does not mean it is the only one you will ever pretend own.

I am on the hunt for a black patent large hobo/medium tote for fall-- something I can use everyday as a purse but will also be able to fit my laptop if I need to carry it to/from work. I tend to use a single bag a lot of the time and want a black patent for this fall. My style is sleek and classic. Here are my current contenders:

I’m bending the rules. (I know this disqulifies me, Patience). I have a great handbag collection so I would therefore happily never buy another hand bag again after I’d bought this one and robbed a bank.

Angie and Ana, you haven't broken the rules! Thanks for playing along everyone. This is just to give some inspiration on handbags and also I think it gives a good hint on everyone's style/personality. Everyone's bags are beautiful and there is quite a wide range of styles. That's what makes this so fun for me.

I still can't come up with my other two. Just goes to show how indecisive I am. Although I don't actually shop very much in category 1 I did have one for it except I can't find a picture. It's a black patent Yves St. Laurent (I think) with a ring handle.
