Back in the States! Outfits for week of 3 May

HI everybody! It's good to be back in the States, as much as I miss being in the Philippines. There is a lot I miss, but particularly relevant to YLF is that I miss seeing people taking more care with their appearance. For a whole year, I didn't see people wearing sweats and pajamas and baggy T-shirts in the grocery store (except when I saw American tourists shopping)! But it is nice to be back home.

As always, comments/ feedback/ suggestions welcome. Excuse the background, we're not home yet so I have to make do and get pics wherever I can get them.

Sunday - I finally got to wear ruffles! I love ruffly tops, but have avoided them because of the busty issue - I used the waistcoat to resolve that issue, plus I love the ruffly/flowy with the somewhat masculine edge of the waistcoat and glads. Does it work?

Monday - Jet lag got the best of me and I stayed in pajamas all day. No pics of that.

Tuesday - I love the flower detail on these shoes. I saw these and couldn't NOT get them.

Wednesday - I tried something new - volume! I was afraid of it, but I did it. What do you think? I kind of think it works because of the tie/ruching detail on the sides and the feminine shoulders, but I'm so afraid of looking huge because of the straight line down from my bust that I don't think I can see this objectively. Can I wear volume? I didn't wear it with the waistcoat most of the day, but I tried it on over it to cinch the waist and see if I would like it better and wear it on another day.

Thursday - dress as tunic. Is this too much black? I struggle with knowing what too much black is, because I consider black one of my signature colors. I'll always be a New Yorker no matter where I live. I don't know what other leggings I could wear - white looks really odd to me with this because the eye is drawn to the leggings instead of the dress. This was such a comfortable outfit - I felt like I was in my pajamas all day. These flats are extremely comfy. Is the vamp too high? Maybe I am just not used to them, or it is the camera angle, but I feel like I look short legged in these pics.

Friday - I am not prepared for the cooler weather - but I love it. It felt so good to wear a scarf and long sleeves today. These are some black jeans I had shortened into clams.

What a great week! Those gladiators are divine. In fact, all of your shoes are great! I LOVE the yellow top. The color is incredible against your skin and the fit is so fun. That was my favorite outfit of the week. I like the dress with the leggings and don't think it's too much black because you put pops of color in with your cami and shoes.

Sunday totally works- love the ruffles with vest.
You do not look huge at all in the Wednesday outfit. I like it with and without the vest.
I don't think that Thursday is too much black at all- especially with the white design and pops of color in the undershirt and shoes.
The black clams fit great (I did the same thing with some blue jeans)- and I love it with the scarf.

Yes, Sunday works! I love the vest with the ruffles and floaty skirt. I would never have thought to wear a vest with a skirt outfit like that. I may have to give that a try myself.

Yes, you can absolutely wear volume. Love the side-ruching and the yellow is scrumptious on you. I also like it with the vest, but you can wear it either way. Vest makes it more work-appropriate; without is more relaxed for weekend type of look?

I don't think it's too much black at all. That dress is amazing! Love the print and the fit.

OK seriously, that yellow top is my absolute FAVORITE top you have posted. That color is so gorgeous on you and it fits really well, and no, you do not look the least bit huge.

Thank you for showing me that busty girls can wear ruffles! I am seriously getting tired of wearing boring shirts just to deflect attention from my chest. Maybe I'll have some luck finding a ruffle top too (someday)!

Welcome back and thank you for posting your inspiring photos. Sunday's ruffles with waistcoat works beautifully!
Tuesday the belted cardi really slenderizes.
Wednesday I just love that color on you and the top looks fine with or w/o the vest.
Thurs. I'm not a good judge of legging outfits as I'm still adjusting to the look, but it doesn't look like too much black. It might look better with heeled shoes...maybe Friday's wedges?
Friday Love! Especially the scarf that pulls it all together.

Asha, welcome back to the US, and awesome to see you post again! The yellow top is just lovely, and the color looks so vibrant against your skin. I think it rocks with the waistcoat, but it absolutely works on its own too. That outfit and Friday's were my favorites.

Thanks guys! In response to the feedback on the yellow top, I've worn it twice since then...it is proving to be really versatile, and the color is just so cheerful. Plus now I feel like I can pull off a little bit of volume...

You look radiant and wonderful! The ruffled shirt and white skirt outfit is KILLER. So pretty and feminine. You exercise great layering techniques and I adore the rose on the black shoes.

But the yellow voluminous shirt over the clams takes the cake. It is KILLER deluxe. SUPERB in every way – right down to perfect gladiators. My goodness! VERY exciting. I want that shirt!
