Home since midnight last night. The weather was milder than expected and also rainier.

After the discussion on previous threads, I opted to take the red light-wool coat as my city coat/ski jacket alternate. Waiting in the train station at the airport (in the plaid ski jacket), I was watching hordes of women go by in black puffers, occasionally relieved by other dark neutrals like navy or khaki, and thinking "I was misinformed"... I ended up seeing only four other women in red coats the whole time I was there.

Looking back I am still glad I took the red. It was a good match for the weather with accessories for the colder days, and I felt chic whenever I had it on. In pictures it looks good, and although it stood out it was not in a bad way (except maybe those days when DH insisted on wearing his orange ski jacket in the city, and we stood out as tourists). At least in Vienna, that just means you get hit up by folks in period costume flogging tickets to Mozart performances.

I accessorized for warmth with the red beret and black leather gloves. I took a huge blanket scarf in red plaid reversing to black and white houndstooth, and a lighter pashmina sized scarf in red and black paisley. So I was really in a LOT of red. Fortunately the shades all matched and the rest of my wardrobe is basically black. I'll post my packing list elsewhere, and add photos as I am able (pics of me are on DH's phone).
